The jkeys version you are using, does it have a selection for 301 single? If not you need to find one that does.
With those readings, you have a good connection.
Is the ground to r79 the best way to ground?

I have tried three diffrent versions I was able to back it up using 2.9.10 .
Then I did a video mod mod this is all I get . Should I ground pad 1?
I have a good back up but how do I write it back also the receiver does not power on. Is there anouther program I can use? I read about a program called wall but don't know.
Thanks,

That is EXACTLY what I am getting and am using the JKEYS that Gunther calls for.
Something I noticed:
In all the Jkey guides for 301.013 it tells you to hit program and pick the bin you want to flash but everytime I hit Program a window comes up with "PROGRAM AT ADDRESS FC00000, size 0X400000"
If I hit OK, it will then let me pick a file to flash! Then it will tell me that the "FLASH isn't currently blank. Continue anyway?"
I have read a lot on these single TSOP 301.013 latley but I am getting the feeling that there isn't any guide that we can use that covers all the issues these IRD's have!
Maybe Gunther will read this and have some comments.
Those readings are exactly what you will get until you select 301 single for the receiver type.

You have to select 301 (Single),with some jkeys versions, in some versions it autodetcts...but it must say 301 single. If it says 301/3100 that will give the readings listed above.

I get unknow when I start jkeys , then I go and select 301 single chip and thats when I get the garbage above.
I edited the def to include ffff/ffff as I read in another thread . this lets me get to the flash programing window . In this window I click program and I get a error writing flash.I am stuck I am able to reprogram the eprom but that does not fix my problem . At first I did get a good dump , Then I tried again and then I get the garbage.

Ok, then it's not seeing the flash chip, or it is corrupted badly, will it allow you to erase it?

It allows me to erase it but goes really fast .
When I get to flash chip programing do I disconnect the ground a reset the ird.
I was playing around with wall and after several hours I clicked erase and it started flashing the green light but still would not write in jkeys.
Thanks,

edited by mistake.........nothing changed......

spyder98,
YOu are not alone. I too have had this problem with the single 301-013 single. I receive the FFFF/FFFFF readings and that is all. When I save my mem and open it up it is all F's. I have tried two different receivers(both 301-013). Either i am making the same mistake twice or some thing is defintely wrong. any help contributed i am sure would be greatly appreciated by all. I to have searched desperatly for help to this problem!

I first must say I am out of it here as I was hurt pretty bad last week and these pain meds have me all spaced out.
Now, 2 things give you these wacky jyag readings,
1) Reading a single chip model as a dual chip
2) Deleted flash not reloaded.
Wall2 does not work worth shit, Forget that. Stick with jkeys.
Forget the "J-Interface" on newer 13's, It will give you ffff errors all day long. IRD numbers r00-55xx xxxx up don't waste your time/w Jinterface. Use a good buffered Jtag unit, If it uses batteries, PUT FRESH NEW ONES IN.
Jtag it, If need be manually select model, Click flashprogramming, Unplug, Replug and click OK within 2 seconds, If not in repeat until trap loads and in. Should be ok to reflash them.
Do not forget the redo the eeprom as well so the images match.

If the erase goes really fast it did not erase. Ground R79, and try again, somethines you need to reboot the IRD and restart jkeys to get a successful erase.

Birdie is right about Wall..........it was specifically written for the 301-010/3100 receivers. And is not needed for a -013 receiver. And will give you problems and headaches trying to use it.

Birdie ,
I hope you are felling better and thank you fror taking the time to help me .
This might be a dumb question but what is the "J-Interface" would this be the one on the bottom of the board ?
Ok a funny thing is if I enter the jkeys development panel and use the "load to " then open wall and the light comes on. When you click erase the light will start blinking .
Ok I might just give up .

I have done 15 VID MODs and had no problem until now. I getting the same error. I only have the jkeys with the 1tsop select and had no problem with the other IRD's. I would like to know what you edit to get to flash the tsop please.

Ground R79 and that will allow you to write with jkeys, some 301-013's are just a pain, even with R79 grounded you may have to reboot the receievr a couple times but it has always worked for me.

i just tried a different 301-013 receiver, this one had 2 tsop. i repeated the same steps i had used with the two 1tsop receivers i have and got the box keys 1st try!!! Talk about excited. i definetly was. i have been wrestling with the two 1tsop receivers for three months. if i got it the first time on a 2tsop 301-013, this makes me wonder what is wrong with what i am doing with the 1tsop? I have tried grounding R79 until i am blue in the face. i am really frustrated. i am using buffered jtag on top, with vidmod(7812 reg). Once i did get into flash but it says the error message fff/fff. Does anyone have any suggestions? i appreciate your help skinerd, you have helped me get as far as I have, i am a dtv convert, i need something else to try besides ground R79.

I have the same problem of 2 301-13's. I've done 2 others with no problem and now I have 2 more giving me the FFFFFFFFFF's. It's killing me and my friend is bitching. I'll check by for help. One more question....If you do a vid mod and take it out, do you have to repair the trace cut....I see no need to keep it in after the mod. It's still in the 2 units that FFFFFF's. Thanks........

I had the exact same problems. The first time I needed new batteries. The second time my connection between my regulator and toggle switch was broken. If you did the vidmod according to directions, it should work. When you get error messages it is usually becuase of human error. CHECK YOUR CONNECTIONS CLOSELY' AND THEN CHECK THEM AGAIN!! Good luck.

Yes - you have to repair the trace cut (or jumper SB35 to The Spot).
The voltage is still needed for the TSOP....
The VidMod just allows you to decide how much voltage is applied - 3.x or 12.

First off the new update changed the way the TSOP works if you notice read 7FFFFFAC before you got FFFF just 4 F's or 8 bytes now after P203 you do the same read 7FFFFFAC you get FFFFFFFF thats 8 F's or 16 bytes also you no longer got SA 0 to 70 to erase its SA0 to 34 only now. So the way I get it the sectors have changed since we posted the ones to erase on nags the moved them and also made the IRDS work on 16 byte like it was designed for.
Take this in mind and it use to be on 8 byte and now its on 16 byte the location has moved by atleast half now. I am gonna read the tsop in full and look through it more.
AS for the problems of writing this is what I noticed that seems to work
leave video mod to off position and plug up ird
open Jkeys then turn on video mod hit detect again now it should work fine now
when it asks to remove power or unplug ird just click YES and dont turn nothing off
erase atleast 3 times and try to program the chip in 2 pieces instead of 1 if you have Hex Workshop you can split the 4 meg read and program it in 2 or more parts.
works for me just cant find the new spot for the blue card nag its not at 7FFFFFAC no more if you will simply read the tsop at P203 you will get FFFFFFFF not the old D5C0 or FFFF check it out and see.
