I am going to the fle-markets this weekend and hopefully I find a pvr , I have a question about the 71/7200 I have read a bunch of stuff about the ecm last month hitting those and making them useless, I know you need a sombreo to get boxkeys and such , but Is charlie still supporting these things ( Like if I Found one and wanted to sub on it ) can I still do that , or should I stay away from these, also can you still use the webplayer function on these and can you use your on isp ( like my dsl) or do u have to use msn dial up crap) not real concerned with internet service but I just won't to know what the deal is with the ecm on these things , and if the still take strem updates

Yes, Charlie does still support these models, although I doubt he would sub a unit that is location id 000000001. If it was ECM'd, even if it's at firmware P1.23, I don't think it will stream update to P1.24; which is the current firmware in the stream. I've seen a least one how to that's supposed to get around this, but I haven't tried it yet. (other than doing the full on chip removal/reprogram thing that HDTV MAN is doing; which will for sure put you back in business) I have two at P1.23 and they still work great so I havn't messed with much since the ECM. I think I'm gonna have to remove the tsop lock all together and try forcing it to update even though they were ECM'd at some point.

7100/7200 is a great unit. Just get a lock installed on it and it should work great. I feel like a idiot because the day i was planning on installing the lock, i had the box cover off and everything, i just wanted to plug it in to see if it works, i got hit. I don't feel like spending 100 bux to get it fixed, dont want to mess around with the tsop chip, im still patiently waiting for a way to fix these, im trying my own methods, which so far failed.
