I just aquired a 3800 IRD on ebay and gave it to a buddy who needed an extra receiver. The 3800 worked fine on my old Legacy Dish but he can not get the thing to work on his dish which I found out was a new ProDish. He talked to tech support and they informed him that he would need an adapter in order to use any old receiver on his new dish. Is this true or is there something I'm missing in order to get a 3800 to play on a ProDish system.

The pro equipment is backward compatible to work with the Legacy equipment....but it won't work the other way around. A legacy receiver does not provide the necessary voltage to push a pro lnb.

you can use a dish pro adaptor with legacy then you can use old recevers mixed with new ones with a dp lnb
