While I had the 6000 down at the computer, I decided to read and save the TSOP, just in case!

I JTAG'ed the box, saw the box keys, came up with the flash menu but when I tried to do a FULL read, I immediately got an error.

Is this the nature of the 6000? Perhaps one of the reasons Charlie hasn't 'hit' the 6000 yet?

I am using a QUAD MODE JTAG (Which, I am very pleased with).

The 6000 Jtag pads are different layout than most IRD's. I found with mine, I had to remove the ground wires from between each data line, then I had no problem. But my error was it just wouldn't read it. (comm error)

Mine reads the information ok...I get the box keys, etc. I just can't read the TSOP image.

Strange!

Hey I'm semi-new to this but I had this problem on a 4900. I just checked my connections, put in fresh batteries, scratched off paint where I was putting my ground and then presto- it worked... You DEFINATELY should read/save your TSOP though! Another similar post to this said they had similar problem but just kept trying over and over until they finally got it.

If it still won't work then I'm Sorry I'm not more help then this--Maybe the "experts" can help.

from Wanna_be in his own word and trust me he knows his shit on 6000.
you must read his wannbejtag6000 guide and make a virgin image to flah it with before you can erase and flash.
BTW.. if you have box keys why do you want to mess with flash is it corrupt.
if you want to save the flash "just in case then same applies, I have saved them from the first screen where it says sav mem without flashing but if you go into flash programing you have to flash a virgin eprom after you edit the virgin to match you ird # and box keys and build config.

well here is a little more info I can pass on to you guys. Anyone having problems reading one of the flashes can try this nifty little trick that I stumbled onto.

Last week my brother inlaw brings over his 6000 that he is having problems with, well 1st thing I look at is the flashes. Low and behold I read the U45 but keep getting a damm error reading the U41. No matter what I do I keep getting flash code error. I figure hey maybe my 9v battery in my jtag is low so I change it still no differance. I check all the solder connections still nothing.

Well switch goes on and I figure what the hell lets program a virign eeprom to this bad boy. Viola presto chango I can now read and save the frickin thing.

Well that was the good news, bad news is the RF connector module for the sat in feed is pooched. Oh well he had 2 6000's, now 1 is for parts unless he can get the module replaced. Well at least that's what I think it is. He can only get Odd transponders and no I have tried it on all my feeds and he tried it on all his feeds so it is his 6000 for sure.

Hi wannna_be, Im looking for a complete power supply for my 6000. Bought it at a flee market and the transformer is buzzing really loud and wont power up. I believe it is isolated to the power supply board itself because when I unhook it from the circuit board it still has probs. Let me know if you know where I can get one. Thx In Advance...
