View Full Version : IRD SW Update Phenomena?

Ok, I socketed my 7100’s a few weeks ago. They were stuck at 123p. I left them in the stream for days unlocked with no card in. I did the 32768 reset. I tried everything but could not get the 124p update.

I took an old rom2 and cleaned it, wiped all the tiers, marked it as unsubbed, and put it in. I got a guide and just a couple of channels (previews, shopping). I let it go and bang, update happened and ecmed. :eek13: (remember its socketed :cool: ) I flashed it back with a good bin and tried again. This time I took the rom 2 and zeroed the box key. I put it is and had the 124 update within an hour. I left it in an unlocked all weekend while I was gone. When I got home I checked it an still no ECM!

So I was curious and tried this in a 301.10. I flashed it back to an older sw and put the same card in with only the ird number on the card and let it go, this morning I had the update and no ecm….

Does anyone think these ecms may need the box key on the card to do their damage

No boxkeys means no video, boxkeys are used for decoding the video only, nothing more.

but it seems the ECM only hits when the ird and card are married. If there not married SW comes but does not trigger the ecm.

Are you sure you are useing good card #'s?

How are you going to watch TV without matching boxkeys and receiver number on the card?? It ain't gonna happen.

it wasn't that he was trying to watch tv but more or less "testing" as I like to still refer to it as. Trying diffrent senarios on why he's getting ecm'd. Probably the reason it wasn't ecm'd when it has no box keys is that somehow charley knows that if the boxkeys don't match then you won't be watching tv, so he doesn't care and doesn't zap ya.

the point of it was to get my 7100 to take the 124p update w/o getting zapped. And it got it with a card in that was not married to the ird.

just wondering why you did not program you chip with the p124 bin?
