New to the hobby need some help in repaining my PVR 508. I did some research and was able to perform a VID mod to a PVR508. Loaded DCKA P063 TSOP and allowed the unit to update. After the front LED light show the unit seems to freeze after 15 minutes of updating. Pulled the TSOP image and saw the update to DCKA P222. So it updates but after all the updates are complete the unit no longer turns on.. Any ideas. The only theory I have is that the unit is DCTD and it does not recongize and updated DCKA bootcode... Please help I'm running out of hait to pull out.. Much thanks...

If it up dated to P222, that's a good sign.

What knid of card is freezing on you?

The original Rom 10 card. I've also tried with an MC and same result. Any Ideas?

I also have a 508 with the same build DCTD (dual GT chips) and can't find these tsop images anywhere on any site. Searched every tsop bank high and low, google and yahoo internet searches, etc., no DCTD found anywhere.

I have read on this and other forums that they are other folks with this same 508 DCTD build that needs the tsops. If anyone has them please post a msg. on where to find them.

You don't need those, I have converted every 501/508/510 that I worked on to DC3A. because that is what I had that was already updated, it works fine, even in the new 510 converted back to 508. The most recent was a DFJA, it is now DC3A, works perfect.

Thats good to hear, I have another issue though it appears Ive corrupted the drive, after reading several sites and the dishmod group at Yahoo Im going to try the following.

1. Zero out drive using powermax lowlevel format.
2. Edit my ird info into pvr508-17db-dc3a-10s-p068.rar from tsop bank
3. make a virgin eprom with build dc3d <-- correct? (my sticker)
4. erase flash 1 3 times erase flash 2 3 times program flash 2
5. check 7fffffac for 0000 or fix
6. write eprom

Now except for zeroing the drive before any of this I beleive I have attempted the same procedure and it had failed, but I may have missed a step before.

Any Comments ???????

That should work. What are your results, I mean what does it do now?

I tried other TSOP images like DC3; however when the receiver is plugged in the IRD serial number is completely incorrect. I compared DCKA TSOP (works all the way to the update) and DC3A (won't work at all) with Flash Edit and the only diffrence is DCKA seems universal and DC3D is "moved serial number". What does this mean?

Moved info and moved serial number is version dependent. Nothing to be concerned with normaly. Except when editing a flash bin with FE, make sure you have the correct setting, that is nescessary so the correct locations get edited. When opening a flash bin, you can tell right away if the numbers look right or not, if they don't try a different setting. That is prolly your problem, you edited the flash on the wrong setting.

I'm pretty sure that is the problem. When I load DC3 (Moved IRD Info) the Bootstrap is not declared on the IRD via JKEYS. The IRD will not boot durring this condition. So step two is open the DC3 image as a "501/508/510" (universal no IRD move info) select advanced and manually add the bootstrap and loaded back to the IRD. A this point everything looks normal on JKEYS, so the IRD is plugged in and an error message appears " Invalid card". I pull out the original blue card and the IRD # is way off "S12679554". How can I edit the correct INFO.

It has harddrive error 04ec which from dishrip database I find is incorrect format
It works as a receiver only but no guide (as that is stored to hd)
That was done with a DCKA tsop p199 all numbers on info screen jive
I beleive that is due to the eprom not being a virgin and not rebuilding drive.
A rezero of the drive did not solve it either.

As far as the DC3* moved ird info tsop I also noticed that behavior no matter which setting I had FE in when I edited, the ird number and boxkeys do not match after flashing.

Prolly need re zeroed.

Use the 508 setting in jkeys to get a good read of the numbers.

5 years later.. and i'm still searching.. I'm trying to convert my DCTD 508 over to bev, and can't find an updated bev tsop of this..

I found the virgin tsop, but for some reason, it won't update.. If you have a little more recent tsop of this build on bev, it would be greatly appreciated!

Might as well get a 622 and convert that to BEV ( I offer that service) 5 year old thread closed. Don't disturb the dead.
