7XXX's Resetting or freezing

I have 2 7XXX DP's with the mic locks. I'm having trouble with them freezin up, going black, screensaver comming on and crawling, menu's crawling or they just reboot every 30-40 min

One is a 123p and the other at 124p. One has rom2 one has rom 3. I'm not sure if its a problem with the card programming or the hardware.

I even changed out the HD in one and called willy for the fresh update.

Anyone else having or not having this issue?

Not the expert on this but I would have to say that they are still getting ecm'ed. what did you change on the cards after they where ecm'ed the first time? Change your cam id to a valid one and use the lastest checksum blocker.

Yup, valid cams and the latest blocker but still happens on the rom 2 with no blocker

Have you tried the dishplayer code to reset your unit. 65026809 Followed the instructions that are here on the site. It solves a lot of problems.

One of the irds was cloned to a subbed 301.13 Ird # and box keys. I tried the yellow card in it from the 301 but it said the ird was not subscribed and call charlie. Wonder why it dont work?

Seem just about every hour or two it freezes like I pressed the pause button but nothing works. I have to unplug or pull card out and reinsert to make it work again.

With 301.13 - try to just wait for 1-2 minutes, it will unfreese itself.
It's normal, since you have a lock and a blocker, when ECM comes in it freeses.

Well its definetly an ecm... I put my subbed rom 101 into the cloned 7100. I got video on the preview channels but not on the subbed channels? It shows them in the guide but just got black screen?...

Well at least I know theres nothing wrong with the hardware. It ran the previews all night, no freeze or glitches with the 101.


What I dont get is why I'm getting hit? I can see the blocker on the rom 3 but the rom 2 in a cloned IRD with valid matching subbed cam tiered with only the top120 I actually pay for is getting hit just as often....

I have cleaned and cleaned the cards, did the rev52 refresh, changed the rev to 54, tried tcfd and yatm and xcell to make different tiers and I'm still getting hit.

The card is not marked. Any ideas of what else I can try? Does anyone have a bin that works I could try?

JYF, ver 1.23, mic lock, NoMore64-V7 blocker, refreshed current tiers, extreme 7100 tier added, checked for minimal amount of tiers to prevent mirror probs.

PKO recently fixed, public keys checked (because of bin download from original two yr. old file rewrote current keys.)

Hmm, would I get any video at all w/o the parity key? i thought it would be previews or black screen w/o the parity key. Dont rom2's update the key automatically since there is no blocker on them?

I think it has to be something with the card and I'm starting to think its the camid's or the tiers. I've dl'd a couple of rom2 bins from the site and they seem to be working much longer than the others.

I have 2 subbed 301.13's with the yellow cards. I'm using those camid's on my test cards. I'm starting to think that the yellow card camids are causing my problems. Maybe they are trying to take updaes the blue cards cant handle?

I have an ex-sub rom10. I put its camid on the rom3 and it didnt lock up all night. It may have rest itself though. I will find out today if it tapes the programs w/o crapping out during the middle.

Each rom type has a specific cam id range. You can not 'integrate' a rom10x cam id onto a blue rom.

Exactly...except for the tough to find part. I bet there are some rom2 images and/or files in the downloads that have a valid rom2 cam id on them. Try checking there first. If that doesn't work, let us know.

Yellows Roms do Not work with the 7100/7200. Makes me wonder if they are going to Have a sowftware update when nagra2 is implemented ( If they can even do that with these receivers ) Even if they can I'mm willing to bet $ that Dish won't , just so they can put these puppy's to sleep once and for all

Ok, Not sure why the yellow card camids worked but i used them for a year before the ecm and they were fine. I still get previews in the 7100 with the yellow card.

I put the cam id of an ex-sub rom10 on both the rom2 and 3. They have been up for 24 hrs with no problems. Hopefully the problem is fixed.

I have 7100 that freezes up. it seems to lock up mostly at night. basically it will be frozen the first time it is powered up but will sometime freeze up during the day. it has a rom3 card with blocker and a tsop lock. this machine was freezing up during the immune period as well. it also loses recorded movies as if they were erased. i was thinking that something on the board itself was failing. i trhee other 7100/7200s that work pefect. are you still error free? i may ned a little help!

Sometimes NV ram dump if it has very old firmware might help. I think it's in the " ready to Kill..." sticky thread, Either way, That one is a must read for any 7xxx user.

I'm having the same problem as the original poster (freezing / rebooting) on both my 7100's w/ Rom3 that were fixed by HD (not his fault, I would recomend him to anyone for the TSOP fix). I know it's programing because I've experienced different intervals of "freezing" (every 20-45mins apart) with different tier lists (YATM). Even with just the top 50, it freezes (less frequently though), so there is something I'm missing.
The way I program is.. Load original BIN from 2003 (Rev 372), clean card, load tier, write card, load misc fixes posted in Files area (PPV, Parity Key, blackout fix, ect), write card, load penga blocker, write card. What am I missing??? This is the original reciever's card and an image of it was made the day I got it in 2003.
Could someome (whose unit is working) be so kind and post a "working" file list from the download section or a patch list?
When does someone have to put the mic in the mic jack? Does this have anything to do with my problem? I haven't plugged the mic in since HD fixed them...

Having the same problem with a 7200. Freezing that is and rebooting.

My case is a bit different but it might help someone out.

This unit was working without a problem since I fixed the hit a few months back. I installed a socket and reprogrammed the TSOP.

I have been running unlocked since without a hit. But just in case I decided to program some new TSOP ic's I picked up so I could drop them in the socket in case of a hit. Seems the fastest way to get back up and running.

After programming 3 of them I put them in the receiver to try them out. All of them worked fine. I then put the orginal back in. Made no other changes to firmware or cam. Put the unit back into operation and now it's started in on the reboot and freeze thing.

No recorded programs lost never have lost a recorded program. Just locks up. Or reboots. In one case it lost some programs set to record later but only once.

In my case I'm sure it's a connection on the TSOP. Both solder on the pins and unsoldered pins on ic's will oxidize. Tends to make for poor contact. It's not a problem when the compont is soldered to the PCB since it happens on the part exposed to air. I have been removing and reinstalling the TSOP when it happens. So far I have done this three times. The last time was yesterday and so far it hasen't done it once. Personally I think it's either the contacts on the socket or on the TSOP pins. Just a matter of getting good contact bewteen the TSOP pins and socket pins. Once I get it just right it should be fine.

So if your 7200 has been repaired from the last ECM you might check the contacts on the TSOP. Especially if you have one with a TSOP socket added to the PCB.

I currently run two 7200's and had this same issue. The machine would reboot every 20 min's. I have done a ton of these units, some for close friends and there’s were also doing the rebooting issue. I removed the ppv string and used current tires and the latest blocker, or NO blocker at all. All is excellent again. BUT No PPV!!!!!

It's a THORN in my side, if you know what I mean....

But, t160hq is correct in his statement, but when it's a connection problem (based on the unit's I've done). I see the unit get stuck on a pink or purple screen after about 20 mins of the unit heating up. Which is more than like a cold solider joint. So I just pull it again and start over. This is why I test each unit for three to fours hours before sending it back.

Never mentioned what I'm running on my 7200. HDTV makes a good point about the PPV.

In my case I have no PPV or porn on my 7200. Just a bunch of locals and the usual fare of top 180 and movie channels. Running it on a three sat system 110, 119 and 61.5. Big brit comedy fan so I'm just looking for the max PBS channels on it.

My 7100 has the full boat PPV and the rest and picks up all the 7200 lacks in the PPV and porn tiers. It has been running problem free since the last receiver hit and fix. Using a rom 2 in it. Using a rom 10 in the 7200. Needed the extra space for the locals on the 7200.

So by all means try a basic sub tiers on the cam for this problem before taking the receiver apart and playing with the TSOP ic and associated connections.

Im running the standard tight ppv string and all events open on my two 7x00's, lock installed. No freezing here. It almost makes me wonder if it's not the programming you guys put on your tsop's when you programmed them. I got mine stream updated to P1.23 before they pulled the update after the hit a few months ago, and since they updated to 1.24. My units were hit, I just was on the ball and JYF'd before the P1.23 update was pulled the day after the hit. Running rom2 and rom3 in my pair of 7x00's. Do you guys have access to a tsop image that has never been altered and stream updated to 1.24? (I don't without removing my tsops) Just a thought from the peanut gallary.

I had one with 1.23, but the unit wanted to update very bad, so I let it. Did all kind of weird things, freezing, locking, you name it...

I have not run PPV in over a month now and it runs like a CHAMP!!! PPV might last two days or two weeks. I'm no pro with PPV, but its just not worth messing with. Unless there something worth watching...

I found the freezing up and resetting mostly due to cam id's or blockers. I'm using rom2's with valid cams and it's still doing great. Check those first.

If you need a blocker try Mili's. I havent found a public one thet works lately.

The cam ID issue is where i started. Last ecm was triggered by several things one being invalid cam id. this is what i am told anyway. i am using numax creater to generate valid cam id and tiers for rom 10. my rom3's were not affected either.
How do i know if cam id is valid anyway? also as all my ird are 7100/7200 i am unabel to get high and low ppv id. can anyone give me current H/L and a valid as i need to reset my tiers for rom3. Really i would replace my r10's with 3's but are cautious to purchase on ebay right now. any thoughts there? My blocker is checksum autoroll. i don't think there is problem there.

Hmmm, cant say about the rom 10's but I do know I used my subbed yellow card ids befor the hit and anter the hit they dont work on the rom 2/3's so something changed.

I would question any public blocker at this point. Try one of the new prebuilt images if you can get on the day its released. Most have valid cams and work for a couple of days.
