do you have the 6000 unplugged while you hook up jtag?? NEVER, EVER, and I mean NEVER hook up a jtag to a receiver that is still plugged in. hook up jtag, then plug receiver in.

wow, is the receiver good? have you hooked up in the stream without a card to see if it gets signal and what not? Are you positive you have jtag hooked up correctly? I do not know as I don't have a 6000. But you should find the proper connection points at www.bellexpress.vu

yes, they have them, pads 2,3,4,5,and7 with the red wire going on 7, goto bellexpress and read it, because they count pads from right to left, make sure you aren't on there backwards. I don't want you to mess it up because of what I've told you to do.

i just checked the receiver by hooking it up to my tv and it works fine, i can get signal screen, menu etc.
the jtag i have is the quad with 2 rows of pins, 7 in one row and 3 in the other. i know the row with three is the ground. do i have to remove pins 1 and 6?

what type of jtag do you have? a quad mode? you shouldn't have to remove the pins if it is a quadmode, make sure you have the cable in the slot for 6000

Sure you are connecting it in the correct direction, and not backwards?

i was able to get the how to in the files section, but he is showing how to jtag from the top of the motherboard with a buffered jtag.
i am trying to jtag from the bottom with a quad mode jtag but with no luck. i had to cut the port myself which i was able to locate from the pic of the top of the motherboard in the how to guide.
thank you for helping by the way

so should i be jtagging from the top of the motherboard with the quad mode jtag, or from the bottom where i made a cutout?

try the top, what do you have to lose, I don't see why you can't get it to work from the bottom, but try it from the top.

go and get wanna_be 6000 jtag guide v3, it is really useful. i have a 6000 and I couldn't use my quad mode jtag because of the squeeling (more than 1 second is very bad for the ird) i had to use my jinterface, i know people hate it but it's the only thing that will work for me on my 5100 and 6000. for the 6000 (flipped over) the row closest to the front of the ird is where the three pins sit and the back row of pads from left to right are the 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 pads and you need pads 2,3,4,5,and 7 i hope this helps you out a little.

i tried but no luck, he shows how to do it with a buffered jtag with a ground wire going to the case of the receiver. i just would like to find some info on using the quad mode jtag with the 6000. the reason i bought the quad jtag was it was supposed to do the 6000.
any other ideas? i dont like the sound of my receiver squealing when i use my jtag.

i did some reading on the jinterface, do you think i would be better of just ordering one and using that?

the jinterface is supposed to be a hands free device (magnets) but i found the magnet was too thick and had to hold the jinterface device while saving flash 1 and flash 2 (a 15 minute hand cramp), i'm thinking of making my own phone line jtag from the jtag pads from the top of the 6000 board.
