I'm just curious of anyone is gettign a decent signal in the south with one of these.
I just spend a few hours, hot sweaty hours trying to dial one in... only to not get above a 51 on 119*... it never really locked.
Did I mention mosquitoes the size of birds??? My back is swelling up from the bites...
Okay - on Monday I decided to take down my oval DirecTV dish, rigged with two DTV LNBFs and some SW21 switches... which was working at signal strength of over 90 on 119*... for this fancy Dish 500 Twin legacy LNBF rig, and a Dish 500 dish... Idea being to later rig up another dish for more locals and use the cascading switch idea. Hell - I have the dishes piling up, why not use one?
I had it wired in and up in minutes. Dicked with it for an hour in the sun (heat index about 107*) and gave up. A very weak signal coming from it, both outputs... So, I decided put up with bad reception (blocks, searching for sat signal) until today when my main receiver just flat refused to cooperate. Couldn't lock the signal.
So I was back out trying to figure out why.. and by 8:00 the skeeters were mobbing me, and it was getting dark fast... I had put the other rig back up, spitting a few choice words (several of the dirty 7, plus some compound words and adjectives) while I kicked the D500 across the lawn.
Did I just get a bad one or are they all a (censored) piece of (deleted) (deleted)???
