hello everyone , hope someone out there is smart enough to help me--- anyway I live north of the us border and am getting rain fade due to poor siganl strenght, I trying to get dish 119, if i try for 110 it comes in better but i'm not interested in 110. Will a larger dish help, if so how big?? Currently i am using a 34" dish . my signal strenght on a clear day is about 67, can some please help me ??

thanks very much for your time.

Sure a larger dish would help, but your already using a heafty dish so try using an in line amplifier. I have read folks getting good results with these. Do a search. Hope that helps.

Hope that helps.Had the same problem and I used a signal booster from Radio xxxxxxxxxxxxshaxxxxxxck. Works great. In my area for me it was hard to even find the 119 and when I did my quality was about 68 on the other hand the 110 came in at about 89. Get your booster and run with it . It will work!!

First, get a sat beeper and make sure your dish is aimed properly. A 34" dish should get anything out there with almost no rain fade assuming no obstructions are blocking the view of the dish. A 34" dish should be bringing in signal strength of at least 90 anywhere in North America even with the BEV birds.

Hi Guys,
I don't know why you're getting such a hard time getting strong signal,I'm up north too and I got perfect signal (125 ) out of an 18" Dish.
Try to play with your dish alittle bit, because it is possible to get it perfect from here.
Good luck.

HarveyHey maybe we ain't got that fine touch like you could you stop by and give me a helping hand(LOL) The tiger Tony!!

I was given two dishes, one 18" and one 24". But someone before me had swaped the pans. The pan from the 24" was taken off and put on the 18". It turned out the arm's were reversed and the wrong length. The 24" had the short 18" arm on it. Terrible signal, stood back looking at the dishes and I noticed it !!!! I made the change on the dishes and my average signal is now over 100. Before the very best I could do was 55.

make sure you are using rg-6 coaxial cable not rg-59, also since you live in Canada if you have a Princess Auto in your area go there for stuff, I picked up a couple of sat finders for cheap, single lnb's dirt cheap, and inline sat signal amplifiers cheap.

i agree that your signal is way too low for that size of dish.....check that your mounting pole is perfectly plumb on both sides and then reaim your dish and make sure you have a good line of site too

here's another tip...spray your dish with PAM...also...since your in snow country, you might buy a dish defroster before fall/winter comes

of course, the real thing you have to do is get your signal level up on a clear day to as high as you can so when inclimate weather ocurrs, your rain fade will be eliminated or minimized

signals come from 22,000 plus miles away and a lot can happen between outer space and ground zero...lol

yea...rg6 cable is a must..anywhere!

Maybe you should move a little closer (LOL)

it really is about you're upright being plumb...if you are skewed at all it wll effect you're signal strenght..hell a 34 inch antenna...you should get terra del fuego....any wiring defects should cut into even or odd transponders...i've been at campsites where trees only give me 54% and i still get it on...could be that the lnb is not at the focal point of your antenna ...what was it used for before?
