Just wanting to pose a question using a super dish to pick up some locals. There was a post pertaining to blackout bits, non spot beamed, spot beamed and super dish. Just wondering if I installed a super dish, would I pickup the super dish locals or is this like the spot beam rule ?? only within a 350 mile radius.

with super dish you will still be subject to the local markets but the super dish gets locals off the 121 sat and that has a differant set up than all the other sats and you must have a dish pro IRD IE no old ones. You can't even use the legacy adapters for this new set up. it is new IRD's or nothing. Talked at length with a sat rep in my town today about this. I have a HDTV unit (model 6000) and he said no way to make it work with the super dish. I would have to upgread to the new new HDTV unit (801) My 301's and my 501 would be ok but 4900 is a no go also.

Use a 2 dish setup: Dish500 pointed to 110/119 and a second Dish300 pointed to 61.5 or 148. Connect them with a DP-34 switch. You can use your legacy receiver with a DishPro adapter and get all channels plus locals. The DP-34 lets you hook up up to 4 receivers.
