I was trying to learn something by trying the various tiers but then all of a sudden I started getting only channel 317 on BEV. I can no longer get to my guide as well. Did I mess something up? Obviously I did! I tried reprogramming the card and as well as doing a hard reset of the reciever. Neither of the 2 methods worked. Unfortunately, channel 317 isn't the most entaintaining channel.!! :)

Could someone please point me the right direction. Thanks in advance.

By the way, the model number of my receiver is 5820 (60 hour PVR) and the card that I'm using is a ROM10 and software I'm using to program my card is Nagraedit 4.0. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thats the bad news channel, bro. Check your sys info screen, and take note of the location i.d. I'm sure it's 0000001. You've been e.c.m'ed as a reward for your learning experience. You will have to sector erase the ecm area of your receiver with jkeys software and jtag hardware.

Appreciate your help Noof!

Which version of JKeys should I be using and do you have link as to where I can go to get it. Any instructions or pointers you can provide would be a big help because I have never played with the receiver's JTAG before.

Your right. I just checked my location ID and it says 000001. I take it that that is bad news in some way?

Yes, it is...does your receiver have the jtag port on the bottom of the steel chassis?

Yes, I was told it has a port on the bottom of the steel chasis. I take it I have to pop open the chasis to get at the Jtag port. I already have a jtag cable but I have never used it. I take it that the jtag port on the receiver than something that my cable can slide onto?

It it has the jtag interface port, you don't have to remove anything. The port is on the bottom, and measures about1 1/2 x 1/2 inches, and should expose a series of contacts on the bottom of the motherboard.

Noof,

It doesn't have any ports that are exposed. It has some porifiorated metal that appears like it has to be cut out in some fashion before any ports are exposed. It looks like I might have to find someone to cut it out for me. I took the cover off but I still can't seem to get to the bottom of the unit where I believe the jtag port is. Any suggestions as to how I may get at the port?

Like NOOF mentioned if you do not have the jtag interface port you hat to tack the motherboard out to JTAG from the bottom.

Good luck

Once you have access to your jtag port, hook up your jtag and open the jkeys 2.9 software. Do a full read and save of both flash 1 and flash 2 for future use. Then you want to sector erase both addresses 52 and 54 IN FLASH 2 ONLY !!!. Restream your receiver, and let it update.

Hey cableboy, I need to know what your receiver model is...I was answering a question specific to the 5820 receiver. Different models require different sector repair.

Cablecowboy,

Not to laugh at your troubles, but I'm glad that I'm not alone in watching 317. Your a little bit further ahead of me in that you can at least get at your jtag port. I have to figure out a way to get to mine. I got my receiver half open and I still can't get at the jtag port!!! Has anyone out there ever try to access the jtag on 5820 receiver? Any hints as to how to get at the jtag without ripping apart the system totally and possibly damaging it?

By the way, when you mentioned lock, did you mean locking the TSOP? Do I use jkeys 2.9 software for that? Again, my apologizes for the trival questions.

PS: Noof, thanks for you patience and help. Much appreciated.
