Send a private message to Whiteshark. He modifies and sells NoZKT receivers. The rest is easy. You can use your CamID from your subbed P4, or make one up. The AutoUnclone utility makes hex conversion and patching a snap. You'll like not having to worry about 745 nags any more...:)

So its my understanding that you can’t use a P4 cam in my situation? My friend told me he would give me his old receiver (DRD420). I saw in the “How to section” a tutorial on how to modify this receiver. Would you advise to give it a try for a newbie or buying one.

Thanks

If you have to ask, then my reccomendation would be to purchase one already modded.

Wired, a mandatory element of the smartcard-to-receiver verification/authorization process is the ZKT tables. Simply put, the IRD sends an electronic "challenge" to the card - if the card fails the test - then you ain't gonna watch TV, you're gonna get a 745 nag. This challenge is called a Zero Knowledge Test...and the card must pass it. You can't get the ZKT tables from a P4, at least not publically. So - you modify your receiver so that it ignores the ZKT. You can't do this with your GAEBOA.
You bet, take the 420, send it to Whiteshark and he'll do the modification for 55 bucks. If you're skilled with soldering, circuits, electronics, etc. Mili has a tutorial posted to do this mod...myself, I just bought a modded receiver. I can't solder my way out of a paper sack.
The concept is simple, and it works. Plus, if you're running an activation script, your tiers won't fall off with a modded IRD - another little advantage. Worth a try...:)

I'll do for a lot less than $55.
US$40 and I pay return shipping.

Here's some information I found on that for you, Doc...

DirecTV is launching a HD programming package July 1, an offering that will include ESPN HD, Discovery HD Theater, HDNet and HDNet Movies.

The HD package is available from the satellite TV service for $10.99 a month.

In addition to the four channels, DirecTV also will provide customers with special HD events similar to events broadcast in the past, such as USA Network's coverage of the Masters Tournament, NBA games and NBA TV programming blocks.

DirecTV customers currently get HBO HDTV and Showtime HDTV as part of the premium packages, as well as HD pay-per-view movies for $4.99 each. Also, as part of its five-year deal for NFL Sunday Ticket, DirecTV plans to offer HD telecasts of NFL games during the 2003 regular season.

To access HDTV channels, consumers can purchase a HDTV set with a built-in DirecTV receiver or a HDTV set-top receiver, and a single 18 x 20-inch or 18 x 24-inch multi-satellite dish with three LNBs. Systems are available from authorized DirecTV retailers nationwide.
