Ask your friend if he had DTV setup locals on all 3 receivers. You can have different programming on each receiver.

my friend bought dtv with the three receivers with local channels. he gave me one receiver and I plugged it in and works. I get the channels he gets except for the local channels because I have an old dish. I bought a new dish an oval with three receiver plugs and hooked it up but still no local channels. whats up? can anybody tell me whats up with this or what I need to do to get the locals?
First i would ask u if you know 4 sure where ur locals are located?...ie older Hughs IRD get's locals in the 900's:
Other IRD's might have similar quirks

Was this problem ever resolved? I'm having that problem now, the receiver was setup at the same location as the original 2 receivers. I'm not sure if it was specifically setup to receive locals at the same time, but one of the other ones has never been setup with a phone line and it gets locals fine. It's a D10 receiver, no other brand name other than DirecTV. Should I just switch receivers and use this one with a phone line?
