Hi, i've been reading a lot of FAQ's and How-to's and a lot of forums. But, im just wondering. Whats the big difference between, FTA(Free-to-air) that requires no ROM cards or nething, compared to say an Echostar 301 reciever that requires a ROM 3 or 10 card?

From the looks of it to me, it seems the FTA looks like a better choice because it has no ROM cards you have to screw around with. Seems like the FTA reciever(ex. Pansat 2500a) looks easier to use, compared to the Echostar 301 with all the ROM cards and programming, etc etc.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
FTA have slower update when they get hit. if you were to get a FTA get one that accepts the magic card Fortec 5900 I believe, You have a lot more options with a FTA that accepts cards in my opinion. I do not test with them as I think the echostar receiver are better but again this is my opinion.
