Ok i'm pretty new to dish/bell, but in my dtv days I could get the signal within 5 mins. I have installed a coulpe of dish/bell with a signal meter, but I can never find the 119 sat. Last night I was installing a dish for a friend and I was on the ladder for 1 hour with no luck. Since he wanted rai international I gave him the 61.5 sat and told him I would be back this week. Oh the dish set up screen I hit the bell 91 the dish 110, 61.5 and I know the 110 is 220@31 (in my area) and the 119 is 230@26 so when I am at the 110 I went down 5deg on the dish and turned it to 230, the signal meter goes crazy, but it says nothing on the tv? What am I doing wrong? I am using his old 18" bell dish with a dual lnb....... Can anyone give me some tips.
Thanks

agepag, I am in the Montreal area and I could never get both 119 & 110 using a 18". I had to upgrade to a 24". as mopar said, you'll need a SW21 switch as well. Look here for a pic of my setup...

I don't want both 110 and 119, I just wat to get the 119. This guy is pretty happy just with the 61.5 because all he watches is Rai international, but his wife would like to watch other channels, so all I want is the 119, is this possible on a 18" dish, like I said I got the 110, 61.5, bell 91, I just can't seem to hit the 119?

Of course you should be able to get 119 with just an 18" dish. Make sure you got the right coordinates.

Try using transponder 11 for 119 aiming, Not all transponders will give you signal in that area

Good tip, I thought that it was all automatic, but I will give that a try...
Thanks again!

Transponders will automatically change depending on the channel being viewed, But for setup 11 works best, Many below are spotbeamed so for aiming will not show signal even though it is good. Saves some climbing and pulling hair out :)

I am have the same problem. I am just trying to get the 119 bird untill I get a second Dish. I am using my DTV dish and no SW21 . I had the reciever do a switch ceck so it knew there was not switch. I got my pointing information from Mili's page. I have installed a lot of DTV dishes I could feal that Bird and have signal in no time. Am I missing something?
PS can a Starchoice Oval Dish be used to hit to Birds?
THanks
Good luck to you to Buddy

DTV dish works fine, LNB etc are all the same as a dish 300, Set the setup unchecked for dish 500 and unchecked for superdish, Enter your zip and use the settings for your dish then. Make sure to level the mast first or the settings are useless. Manually set it for transponder 11 and it is just as easy as aming for dtv.
I don't have a starchoice dish, So I'll see if someone else can answer that. I would assume with the correct settings it would work.

Yes, a StarChoice dish can be used, however the LNB is not comaptible with DN or BEV.

Well I am going to try that transponder 11 trick tommorow, so hopefully that will do the trick. I will let everyone know. Another question, BirdieMod you say I could enter the zipcode, even if this is being done in Canada?
Keep the tips coming!
Thanks

Canada Zips will not work. It sounds to me like you had it already with your satfinder, Just had a no signal in your area transponder.

I hope thats the case! I never new that if the ird was on the wrong transponder you wouldn't be able to get the signal.... I thought it was all automatic. I will be going on thursday and will let everyone know what happens, I forgot the Canada was playing tonight............

the 119 bird is to the right of the 110 ,so just move the dish right once you get the 110 and you should pick up the 119.this is better explained in the forums.but just keep right and you will be right.also download sat finder or sat locator the are both great and easy to use
