so there is no way to use that card slot and make it work ?

originally I wanted to get an HDTV receiver but they only have the 6100 now at the stores no more 6000 models

Does anyone know if these carless receivers run on nagra 2? I'm sure they do not run on nagra 1, didn't know if they made a nagra 3 for cardless or not,

Cardless IRD's & new encryption methods means this hobby will be finished soon.

It is a 64 pin embedded smartchip, Other that factory spec sheets on the blank chip not much is known on them yet. 311/322/522 and a few others are using these.
I got stuck with 90 311's so I am having no problem tearing them down ruining them to do some research the last 6 months.

News On ExpressVu Receivers Heading Our Way Soon.

2004 JULY 22
Five new state-of-the-art satellite receivers introduced this year
Bell ExpressVu is extending its technology leadership with the largest rollout of new satellite TV technology in its history to win customers away from cable.

The rollout started in January with the launch of the new, higher-capacity 5900 personal video recorder (PVR), which can record up to 80 hours of programming. Last month, Bell ExpressVu launched its model 6100, a next-generation high-definition receiver. The company plans to introduce three additional receivers over the balance of this year.

"We're winning the technology battle on every front," says Brad Elkins, ExpressVu's Associate Director, Product Marketing. "From our all-digital signal to our advanced set-top boxes, we're pushing the technology envelope to guarantee superior TV for our subscribers.

"For example, HDTV is the TV of choice among consumers and we've met that demand with the introduction of the 6100."

"It's the next generation HD receiver with enhanced security features, a picture-in-guide programming guide and interactive TV compatibility," says Brad. "The 6100 receiver has a DVI (Digital Visual Interface) output which results in a more consistent picture quality."

Previous receivers used component video output that required the digital Bell ExpressVu signal to be converted to analog before it was passed to the HDTV. This conversion process could reduce picture quality.

"With a DVI output, that's all eliminated. DVI allows for the digital ExpressVu signal to be transferred directly from the 6100 receiver to the HDTV, resulting in a superior, sharper and crisper picture."

The 6100 also includes an integrated off-air tuner for local high definition and analogue broadcasts and lets the user select the screen size, choosing between either a 4:3 or a 16:9 aspect ratio.

In addition to the 5900 PVR and the enhanced 6100 HD receiver, Bell ExpressVu's 2004 launch line-up includes a new dual-tuner PVR, a new dual-tuner HD PVR and a new Dual Tuner Basic box.

"Each extends our technology leadership," says Brad.

Through the summer, ExpressVu will launch the 3200, a dual-tuner receiver and the dual-tuner 5200 receiver with an integrated PVR capable of recording 80 hours of programming. Both the 3200 and the 5200 allow subscribers to watch two different programs on two TVs and have picture in picture even if the TV itself doesn't support picture in picture. The 5200 PVR also allows subscribers to watch and record live programs.

Rounding out the launches in the fall will be the 3101, a new basic receiver with enhanced security features, a two-day programming guide and support for interactive TV, and the 9100, a state of the art Dual Tuner HD PVR, with up to 25 hours of HD recording.

"With these new receivers we are driving television technology and delivering a superior viewing experience. It's just Way Better TV."

Same a s DN, BEV is introducing the 3200 which I assume is nothing more than a 311 cardless receievr. The Dual tuner version is equal to a 322. They will still have to suppport the older versions as long as they have subs with them, unless they plan on swapping everyone out, which is not likely.
There is no doubt, like DN, BEV will eventually be all cardless and/or Nagra2, that's not the question, the question is when.

Yep, Looks like the 3200 is the 322 and the 5200 the 522, Both cardless dual tuner models.

Aren't cardless IRD's Nagra 2?
That's what I thought.

Which would make it suck out loud for Charlie and Beverly when/if nagra 2 gets hacked. No card swap will save them then.

could be as simple as reflashing the chip ..or even replacing the chip .in the new IRD's...could be so simple that the provider has seen fit for it not to be hacked..?...could be as simple as buying a box that get's it all..when that bridge come's ..than it will be crossed....I used to be a umbrella sale's man ..and I ran down the street one day ..it was sunny out ..but I yelled out as loud as I could ..*the sky is falling *....People cam rushing to my door-step to buy umbrella's ..and I was all sold out in under an hour ...but what I didn't think of was that my brother-in-law was selling rain-coat's..and I had just put him out of bussines..?......
