after months of learning, i finally did my first dish card since dave's days. i have a 2800 and basically following the dang newbie guide by shaan. i got the program guides (after a long aguiring satellite signal time) and many channels working. the only problem is...these channels just frozed and went black after 30 seconds or so. i wold have to switch to those free channels (like 101, 102 etc) and switched it back. but it only stays up for a short time and go black again. what did i do wrong when i program my card? thx.

are you using the new parity key change? After you open up your tier list patch, right before the blackout string you need to add this;
!Modify 07 02 04 0F 6B8F023B5F66C04FCFC89C2072E064
and you should have tv again.

YOu need to change the parity Key PK0. This has been covere several times here, just look around a bit. You can fix it by manually changing 2nd $07 decrypt key's to

6B 8F 02 3B 5F 66 C0 4F CF C8 9C 20 72 E0 64

or

patch this line in Nagra Patch

!Modify 07 02 04 0F 6B8F023B5F66C04FCFC89C2072E064

Make sure you you relock you card with a current blocker after patching.

I find it best to do the following:
1) Unlock Card
2) One Step Clean in Nagra
3) Apply Tiers
4) Apply PKO patch (one time only, won't need to again until chuck changes keys)
5)Apply Blocker Patch
6) Write Card
7) Try to read card to make sure its locked, if so, go watch tv.

Hope this helps.

i was told that the 2800 cannot be softlocked anymore. but anyway, i got the parity keys taken care of now. i am watching freetv (may the sun rise ffrom dave's grave) again. this is a whole new learning experience. i want to thank everyone here who is willing to help. big hug to all of you. if there are more people like you folks here, then the world would be a much better place.
