hey all
just some info i think you should all know about. i had a bev 6000 being shipped to me from the states (i'm in Canada) and the shipment was held in customs due to incomplete documentation. i managed to speak with someone at fedex that deals with customs. she told me the reason for this was because customs has had an increase in sat receivers being shipped cross border with values declared at less than $100.00. she told me that any sat receiver declared less than $100 will be held and opened to check the validity of the declared value. if customs thinks it is worth more than the declared value (she says lots have been declared around $10) they will hold the receiver for 2 days and wait for proof of purchase with a valid receipt. if they do not receive a proof of purchase showing the value paid for the receiver it will be shipped back to the shipper.
my receiver was being shipped as a: receiver good for parts only and declared as a gift with a value of $10.00. it was held and opened because the declared value was less than $100.00.they determined it looked new and therefore the declared value was unacceptable. i was lucky, my original receipt was invoiced to me for $14.00 usd.(i paid a lot more  ) which i saved. so i had to fax that to them to prove what i paid for the receiver and it was finally released and i should be getting it today.
what a pain in the ass
