View Full Version : 3.57mhz vs. 3.68mhz for programming dish
I have 2 old Dave programmers with 3.57 crystals. 1 is a netsignia from maybe 5 years ago and the other is a Vector nextgen3.57. Both work doing charlie but only on certain computers. My question is why does it work, since your suppose to use a 3.68 and why on only certain computers. Works on a 500 and 366 but not on another 366.

Here's a short sticky on this! 'Work' mean reading a card or actually running patches; applying bins and writing to a card?

Changing crystals is so simple. Just open up the 210 and you will see the 3.57 crystal at the bottom of the board and it is marked 3.57. Then just unsolder and solder in new 3.68 crystal. You do not need great soldering skills to do this.
Most speciality electronics stores will have the 3.68 crystal for less than $1.00
They read and write to the cards with no problem except for the 1 computer where when writing it says something about retrying and then fails to program. But the other 2 computers after writing to the card, the card works perfect.

I have a hu loader with 4 dip switches and a 2313 atmel. I soldered a new 3.68 crystal in but can't get it to work. Wont read a card. I'm not sure what kinda programer it is but it does say "kickass Clone" on the board. I was told to flash the atmel but it still wont work. It's not a big deal if I can't get it to work cause I have a iso programmer but it would be nice to use once in awhile. Any ideas? If not, it's not a big deal.

3.57 dave iso's seem to load rom10's o.k. on most puters, but won't load rom3's. Best to recrystal it to 3.68 or replace it.
