How do I know if Ive been ecm`ed

Hi Guys/Gals

I am enmulating(sp) I have a dummy sv1 card,Im running DISH on a dp301 works great.6weeks no problemo.Now I bought a 2nd unit,a 2800.I have a 2nd sv1 to go with it.All I can get is ppv preview audio and music channels.Im wondering if the unit I bought on ebay had been ecm`ed before I got it.Ive never been ecm`ed Im a newbie.hOW DO i KNOW IF ITS BEEN ECMN`ED.The sv1 works well on the 301,they are not very helpful over there. Any advice would be appreciated.

Easily, bud.Go to the sys info screen, and check the location i.d. If your receiver has been hit, it will be 000000001. Any other value is fine.

You need to also check the software version. Go into the SYS INFO screen and
check. I think the 2800 should be using 797 on DishNet. Sometimes the receiver
won't update unless you force it by doing the SA Sector Erase.

To Update SoftWare follow these steps:It is also used for ECM repair!
Plug receiver into outlet and power off on the receiver itself -
1- Have dummy card in the card slot(leave dummuy card in until the update is finished)and Open JKeys
2- jkeys will detect your box keys and ird number
3- click on flash programming, remove power, reconnect and click on OK in 3 seconds(301-010 receivers do not require the reconnect)
4-(Skip this if you already have a backup of TSOP) in the next screen, in FULL, click READ and save a dump of your tsop
5- click on the arrow near FULL, there you will find the sectors or SA, select the one that correspond to your ird's model:
2700 = address SA5 (512 k tsop)
2800 = address SA5 (512 k tsop)
3700 = address SA5 (512 k tsop)
3800 = address SA30 (2 meg tsop)
3900 = address SA30 (2 meg tsop)
4700 = address SA30 (2 meg tsop)
4900 = address SA30 (2 meg tsop)
301.010 = address SA3 or SA 8 flash1(2x2 tsops)
301.013 = address SA18 flash2(2x2 tsops)
301.013 = address SA50 (1x4 tsop) jkeys2.9.9b
501/508 = address SA54 or SA52 (2x4 tsops) P168 firmware is SA60 in Flash2
6- click on ERASE 5 times or more
7- close jkeys, connect the ird to the satellite feed with the cam(dummy Card)and wait 15 to 20 minutes
8- LED will go out when update is finished.

Thanks Noof and BiggerBear.Im just about to get started on it again.I dont think I was ecm`ed because I dont recall the number NOOF mentioned,but will check again.My family have to get out of my living room before I can start.As for the JTAG,last time I tried that on another receiver I could not get past the flash part.I have jtag wires that I soldered in for sv1 setup,they dont have the battery and there not hooked up to the bottom port of the receiver. I will try again.DO I stay away from downloading with/without permission?

I always allow downloading without permission, but you need to get a good
Jtag reader. Jtag is a basic part of the procedure. I built the Simple one and have
it setup using the Phone plug on the back of the receiver for hands free use.

Thanks guys Im back playing with it.My softwear version on my 2800 is...766PCSCD-N

I have good numbers on location id. I DO HAVE JTAG WIRES HOOKED UP IN my system but they only have 3 wires going into the com port.Should I try doing the flash that bigbear suggested or is the softwear 766...ok. REALLY APPRECIATE THIS GUYS.

hate to be a pest guys.Before I try anything that might be over my head(i did manage to install the card and lock using solder etc on 3 units)that I thought was over my head.The sv1 has a red light that goes on when all the connections are right.So Im fine that way.Right now I have system info on the screen.Right beside and under smart card id should it not read dish 500 ready?or dish 500 card ready?It does on my other unit.Im wondering if I could have some wrong info such as box keys cam id etc?Would that stop the main channels from loading?BOX KEYS I may have zero`s and the letter O MIXED UP?ARE there O`S in boxkeys as well as zero`s?For dish I dont have to hex any numbers do I?What about cam id?Im using the same cam id on 2800 as I have on DP301,THE guy I bought it off gave me one he was currently using.Can I use the same cam id on both my units?Thanks hope this is not to much to ask.IT IS!

Use the number key 0 not the letter key O
The letter key for BoxKeys will get you previews and music. You are still going to need to update the receiver.
As I said I think you should be running 797 software. Do the update it's easy after a few times. I never use locks with Emulation!

Thanks BIGGERBEAR I was able to use my jkeys to erase just like you said it wasnt hard at all.I erased the SA5 7 times AND now have hooked it up again to sat feed and ?Should I be seeing some type of download?Im getting the same few channels I was before.My box keys are fine THANKYOU I know you said wait 20 minutes.Its been 20 minutes now.Should I do it again?

What Emu Program are you running?Yvous,Chinaman or Cemu(Dos or Windows)
You said you have locks. Make sure they are off when updateing!
If you do the Erase correctly the LED will flash then stay on (while updateing the remote won't do anything)When the LED goes out the update is done.
Is you software at 797? If not the receiver didn't update.

IT WORKS. When I first erased I had the lock on,and when I tried to update I also had it on.I told you I was a newbie! Special Thanks to BiggerBear with honorable mention to NOOF for showing me to check location id to see if I was ecm`d.Now I know how to tell.BUT the EMMY goes to BiggerBear for his instruction on the erasing.I also now know that my JTAGS in the receiver work and I now know my lock works.I turned the lock back on.

Im using SV1 SMART CARD.iTS A DUMMY CARD FOR EMULATION.i USED THIS SAME COMPANY THAT HAD A MOD IN DTV RECEIVERS.IT worked for 3 years without a hit,so they say.I had it about 1 year without a hit.The odd freeze frame.ANYWAY if you are interested check it out at dishstar.tv

They strongly reccomend the lock?

I build my own Emulators, because of what happen with DTV(Letters & Being Sued)
Just remember in the past Locks have been ECM targets when used with Emulation and I have never used them.
That's just something to think about if you get ECM'd and
don't know why. Usually it's caused by CamID,PPV string
or the Emulator Program Itself (I'm sure it would be Posted)

I checked out the site you posted. From what I could see you paid about $150
That's the most expensive setup I have seen.
I built my Emulator,Programmer and Jtag.All for about $20
Locks are just a money maker for them.

Yes it was expensive.On the bright side I have learned how to solder,and am now a little wiser.After DTV went down ,I was paying 39 bucks for total choice + a yearly fee of 70 bucks for a US address and all that in US funds,so I may get it back if CHARLIE doesnt ruin it all in a year or so.Pluss its fun getting everything.I need my US tv.Love FOX NEWS,cant get it in Canada.Turner Classic movies etc.
