Mejj, I just took a look at Nimiq1, I have 11 Venus channels 0-10. I also have all the PPV channels.
I live in the northern part of Alabama.
The channels were shuffled around and I rescanned the satellite 4 days ago. I got 501 channels on nimiq1. I am using a PCI DVB card in my computer to test with.
I don't know much about the STB's.
To answer your question, no, they haven't went to Nagra2, yet, and yes they are broadcasting now.
I did a little looking and I see that the Venus channels are coming from Nimiq3, transponder 3, 12253. These birds are positioned very close together so you can get signals from both. Maybe if you try to fine tune the position of your dish, you can get the channels you're missing.

I don't think that reflashing your box will solve the problem. As xwolfs7 suggested, you should manually scan the transponders. Try scanning transponder 3 only and see if you get the channels. If you get no signal from transponder 3, then maybe you can move your dish just a little to get better signal.

tigert422, I am using the TwinHan 1020A. I am very happy with it! I had no problems setting up and getting running ( other than not knowing what the h*ll I was doing). I had no problems with the card at all.
Be aware that you need to use a pretty hefty computer with this card, especially if you want to view HD. Anything over 1 ghz should be fine for normal viewing. If you want to use a slower 'puter, use a hardware based card like the nexus-s. It has tv out and does the video decoding on-board, doesn't use your cpu. No HD on this card, though.
A friend of mine just bought a 1020A for $64 on E-Bay, the guy had like 87 of 'em.
If you get one, let me know, I'll be glad to help you get going...

Bev is spot beaming some of it's channels and if you live in South Florida or South Cal. you won't get Venus no matter what you do.

alhogan, yes you can get HD with the dvb card. But only on the B*v birds (Nimiq2). Charlie is using something called 8PSK that we can't decode. It seems that Skystar is working on being able to decode these signals, but I think it's offline, meaning that you record the transport stream and decode it later.
The TwinHan is the only dvb card that can pick up the dss signals from Dave. The problem is we can't decode the signal. We can, however, get the free music from Dave using TSReader and Audiorip plugin.
For a lower priced DVB card, I have been very happy with it!

Most of the odd transponders of Nimiq1 have been switched ti Nimiq3 which as some have said before has a footprint that leaves much of the South and Southwest out with a small antenna.
It is not true that you cannot receive these transponders in South Florids. etc at all. You just need a bigger antenna. It has been received in Melbourne with a 3 ft . I have a 10 ft and I will try this weekend in West Palm. My 3 ft does not work here. It all depends on the EIRP where you are located.
