How would I know if I have been ECM'd? What kind of message should I see??
Any help is greatly retained!!

By the sound of it, your 3100 is equiped with a D/lock. If you do get ECM'd, you'll see the 'Error 104 A serious problem has been detected in your receiver . Please call: 1-888-884-3759.
If the d/lock is correctly installed and If/when an ECM happens, simply unplug your IRD for 10 secs. Then replug power and all should be back to normal.
A sure fire way to tell if you've been ECM'd is you'll only get 1 channel...53. Then check your 'System Info' screen, last line at bottom....location ID. If all zero's or 0000001.....the IRD has been ECM'd.

I also got a card with it (copper board like) with prongs on the end (Atmega??)? Also a COM port adapter (small piece that connects to the COM and the card plugs into the pins on the card).
Sounds like a AVR. If it is it can also be used as a interface for a program like CEMU (no card required).
Or it could be a CEMU interface. It would not have a place to insert a card on the copper board if its just a interface.
I have been reading for input on all BEV related forum topics, but want to know if I have the right stuff to begin with??? Wat would you reccomend?
If the board is a interface or can be converted to work as one. I would recommend setting up a CEMU emulator. You will need a dedicated computer a P1 or better with a floppy drive. I picked up some in my area used for US 25.00 each. Cheaper than a unlocked CAM.
P.S.: It has been working for 4 days and today after a storm, it say's " cannot find signal ". I checked the signal meter and say's " no signal to hold "?? Dish looks fine??
I find putting a pair of womens underware on my head and chanting singal...singal...singal never works.
Then I check all the usual suspects. Connections, alignment, and
obstructions to the signal (tree limbs, parts of the house that fell off...ect).
The first method does get some strange stares from the neighbors though.

If you're running around with your underwear on your head yelling...."Single, single, single", chances are that you will remain single for a long time...lmfao!!!
