Just reading some posts and read a lot about TEST MODE.
are people just writing about grounding R79 when Jtagging or I am confused.
Came across a 301.13 dual tsop that refuses to light up. although I can reflash completely flash 2 without errors.
any insight would be great.

BFR....boot from rom, a mode the CPU can be put in to avoid booting to the flash. Makes working with the flash much easier, sometimes the only way you can work with the flash.

OK , its as I thought,... Now my problem is that although I have ungrounded R79 and disconnected from the computer the jtag , the unit refuses to light up.
sat to lnb is not outputting either, Jtag again and my keys and memory are there.
This one has me wheel spinning. 301.13 dual tsop Bulid DAJD
Vid moded to write to tsop and then un vidmoded.
any ideas. wall 2 will write only to 1fxxxxx not 7Fxxxxx

You don't need wall2 for a 301-013. If the receiver won't power up after ungrounding R79, make sure it really is ungrounded, no solder bridges.
Does it still jtag?

Take a ohm meter from Jtag pad 1 to ground with the recxeievr unplugged, Should be open. Take your tsop images into flashedit2 and create a virgin eeprom image, Write that to the eeprom and try it again.
Make sure the trace cut from sb35 to the spot is reconnected, Or the power light does not turn on either.
A few things to try......

Hold the power button on the front panel in for about 30 seconds, See if the power light turns on then off again on its own. Also try the remote power button.
Take a ohmeter again from sb35 to a area marked "Reset" with the unit unplugged, 2 of the pads by reset should show continuity to sb35.
Everything in your last post looks good so far.

Top or ejag or bottom reg jtag shouldn't matter as long as it is reflashing and reading fine without errors.

No go on the power button or remote for 30 sec.
Ok
from sb35 to four reset pads near jtag without plugging in power show all continuity.

Thats a normal chip then, Some refurbs had a trick added, But not yours.
What tsop file are you using to redo it? Is it a known good copy?

I was off checking in the tsop files, I only saw the one Daj build. It could be possible that file is NG, Seen it before. Might give file 251 Daca a try, Bootstrap is different, But I think it should work eyt. If nothing else I do have a few Daj ird's here I could jtag and read.

A DACA(D) should work fine...
Also I saw no mention of inserting a card, these will appear dead sometimes unless a card is inserted.

Try hooking it up to the sat cable with no card, Wait a few minutes, Then hold the power button in for about 60 seconds. See if the power light does anything.
