I've tried the (press Menu, 6, 3, info, right, left, tv/video, unplug for 15 secs) but no luck... tried it like 4 times with no success...

I also checked the memory dump page (both 01C0 & 0320 page), but every column under those lines are all 00000000...

I've tried unlocking with 0000, but no go...

I've got a 3900 receiver, but it's ONLY LINKED to the 119 bird... I still don't haven't connected the 2nd dish because I need mounts for my dish...

I got the "used" 3900 from eBay and I contacted the seller, but he just collects them and sells them off...

I am running the Magic Card and other than the locked channels (HBO, MTV, porn), all the other channels work...

Please help... them girls on my avatar likes porn...

Do you actually see the"volatile memory is corrupted" message whem you dump it? I know that some of the newer firmwares won't allow password dumping, but I'm not sure about the 3900's latest firmware.
I would think that if you don't see the volatile memory has been corrupted message, you're either doing it wrong or the newest firmware wont allow it.

after I do the sequence this is the message that comes up:

"Non-volatile memory has been corrupted. It will be cleared after pressing the front panel power button or by removing AC power from the receiver."

I've tried both the AC Plug & the Front Panel Power Button... no luck...

Under the System Info screen, the Software Version I'm running is: P232CLFD-N
Boot Strap Version is: 12CBCLFD

What next?

Do you have a card you can try it with, just for laughs?I do think that its locked with the latest firmware. If you have a card to try it with, and it doesn't work, you could roll the firmware back by reflashing to a previous version(only if you're good at jtagging), then doing the mem dump. After your password is cleared, let it update. This is assuming it is a firmware issue.

no, I don't have a card to play with...

I haven't tried jtagging yet, but how difficult is it to use? I've got my TSOP backup files that my bro-in-law saved...

Do You Have An EEprom Lock?

EEprom Lock? If your talking about those "Digital Locks" than no... I don't have one installed...

Going through all of the 119 sat channel listings... Basically all of the movies (all HBO's except HBOFM is blocked... All Showcase, MovieMax and other movie channels are blocked... Music Stations like MTV, BET are blocked... No get this... Whoever had this receiver must've either been a nun or it must've been for their kids rooms, because even the SIRRUS channels are blocked, BUT only the HipHop & RnB & Rap Channels... )

But man..... this is starting to really tick me off...

Try Password 0000. If it's dumped the line reads FFFF for password area.

IRD 2700 - Alternatively you can use the memory dump page to display a lost password. Scroll to line NVM 01C0.
Example: NVM 0001C0:0000000 00000000 34120000 00000000

Once dumped FFFF Above. not 3412.

The third set of numbers contains your password, the the number are in reversed pairs. Eg.if your password is 1234 they would read 3412.
NVM 000320 line for 301/3100 models

How to reset Receivers password.
Using Remote Control folow procedure below to reset password.

To Reset the password.

Step 1: Press Menu button, then Press 6, then Press 3 (Menu 6/3)
Step 2: Press Info then press on Right then Left buttons quickly.
Step 3: Press TV/Video button.
Step 4: Select OK on Screens Menu.
Step 5: Unplug Receiver and Plug right back.

That it. You no longer have password protection on your receiver and can set a new one if you wish.

Please Note: Above procedure may not work on some receivers.

this is from another site, never tried it myself, good luck

I've again looked at the 01C0 line & the 0320 line, but all 4 columns on those lines are all 00000000...

Time to Jtag it, Save the tsop, Take it into flashedit, Create a virgin eeprom image and write that back to the receiver. Rerun check switch and all done. No more password.

Hey guys - I just acquired a particularly touchy 301.010 today and could not get the pw info or get it to reset. Hell I could not even get the corrupt memory message. Then I tried FourPuttMans solution above. Sonofabitch! It worked for me.

Peace!
