I have a 3800 IRD and after about a week my IRD says ERROR: there is a serious problem with this reciever. Please call 1-800....
I do an ECM repair and it fixes the problem , then it does it again after a few days.Is that normal for my reciever to go out so often? I dont have a tsop lock installed, would it fix my problem if I installed one? If so , where can I get instructions on how to do it on a 3800 IRD? Sorry for all the ?'s. Im new to dish.

Yes, it is normal. Charlie is ruthless with is ECM antics. Get a d/lock installed if you intend to stay with Dish. I have instructions on lock installation but need to know what model lock you'd be installing...

Do you know of any safe places to purchase a D/lock from? Does Dish usually last alot longer than DTV? Thanks for the help!

Have read good reviews about www.Dishmonkey.com
Yes, Dish does last longer than DTV these days. As long as you select the tiers you need. By opening ALL channels you risk being 'singled out' and ECM'd. Try to take a moderate package to 'blend in' with the crowd (you won't stick out like a sore thumb). A d/lock will also help...

have you tried the receiver mods.to force the tsop to update, you need a new blocker your blocker failed, with a good blocker you dont need a lock, what rom you running horhay rom3 was hit...

penga rom 3 is working. teh software lock is a neat feature, should you get ecm'd just remove card and insert again and watch tv. its cheaper than tsop lock and no soldering required.

Are you sure youve been ecmed, check location id,what does it say(menu 6,1,3)if 0000000001 then ecmed but if it's all #'s then you are getting nagged, what blocker have you used as h0rhay has been compramised

Yeah, I checked the location id and it was all #'s. I also was using the horhay rom 3 blocker. But I dont think my card was hit I think it was just the IRD. If the blocker on my card is no good will that affect my IRD? Also, the soft lock you guys are talking about is it the one in Flash edit 2.0?

If you had h0rhay's blocker on your cam then yes it'll affect your ird as it's leaving you wide open, possibly for an ECM but in your case youre getting nagged so need to put a new blocker onto it,find it in the files(Penga).
Get Flashedit 2.0a-1 from dssftp.com

read your TSOP

Open up saved TSOP with Flashedit

Click on write softlock.

Save as personal dump

Write saved bin back to receiver.
