I am kinda new to this so this may be a dumb question but better safe than sorry :)

The VID Mod calls for a 220 Ohm 1/2 watt resistor
So I am wondering if I can use a 220 Ohm 1/4 watt resistor will this affect anything ?

Thanks

The resistor diode method plain sucks, that is a sory way to get 12 from a 25v source, and dangerous too. Use a 7812 regulator, it is a lot better.

Thank you I will use the 7812

1/4 watt would burn up anyway. 1/2 watt already gets hot. Go 7812, The 7812 even costs less then a zener diode and res anyway.

is there no 12volt source on the mother board? i have never checked however, i would assume there would be. has anyone checked? i will be doing a vid mod in a couple weeks and would rather tap than install a regulator.

That is exactly why the resistor/diode and the 7812 methods are used, there is no 12v source on board.

LOL......
Well I think I just donated one to my parts pile (1st one) :)
I do not know what I did but the power light will not come on and I have no voltage to C44 at all
has anyone came across this or is it lost in the line of testing
