i'm new to this. i have tried the 6,3,info,right,left. never worked, tried looking for pasword in same scren. all 0000. can read eprom but dont know wat do do next or what software and were to get it.

Try this... i know you've did the 6,3 info thing but maybe you forgot some steps
You'll lose any personal preferences that you have programmed into it, but it will return it to "out of the box" status.
To do this, press Menu,6,3, then QUICKLY press info button, browse (right) then theme (left),then tv/video. Look for the screen indicating corruption of non-volatile memory, click OK. Then, unplug the unit for 30 seconds.

The only way your are going to unlock the password lock on the 301 is to erase the eeprom and flash it with a virgin one. you can find one in the download section

Read the saved eeprom with hexworkshop.The password is on line 320(on the right side of the screen...the numbers there is the password..
