Newbie post. Hi been hanging around as a lurker for some time. Can usually find the answers to most of my questions with the search function. Well not this time. I have a 510, did the Vidmod and changed hard drive size, then marry the hard drive after loading 063. Would not marry with any other firmware. After I had the hard drive married I let it update. Then I went to change U7 to accepted blue card. Well that’s when the problems started, U7 fried then the hard drive caught on fire (small flames).
Ok I don’t take defeat easy, so I went and got some DT chips, replaced U7, fixed Vidmod. Tried to load U7 with Wall 2.2. No go, I cannot get anything to load into/onto U7. Jkeys reports “Mfg/Device codes returned are FFFF/FFFF(JEDEC) and FFFF/FFFF (Flashfile).
So I changed U6 and same results. I can read/load the eeprom. But can not get anything from U7. I been after this for 3 days and I have looked for the pins on the chips soldered together and check all the pins they seem to be good.
If someone has some ideas I could sure use them. Also if you think that this 510 is now some spare parts let me know. Sorry for the long post but my head hurts from beating it against the wall for so long.

Wall was written for 301-010's....does not work well with anything else, and you don't need it.

Edit the jkeys def file, to accept FFFF as your flash type. Then get it programmed and edit it back.

"U7 fried then the hard drive caught on fire (small flames). "
More optimistic than I was, Fire= Bad.
Hope repairs work though.

Skinerd buddy I have used wall to revive my 510 few times. But if editing the jkeys def file will get the same result, what more can you ask for. There is a certain procedure you have to do in Wall to make it work. Here is a link for wall 2 read the whole thread http://www.dssftp.com/forum/upload/showthread.php?t=20206&highlight=wall

Skinerd editing the jkeys def file worked. But now I get 2 mins into the loading of the flash and I get “error programming flash at offset 0xcd004. I get the same thing on U6 (I know progaming U6 is a waste of time). I think this thing is now “spare parts”. Thanks for your help.
