changing the boxkeys and ird number might be the problem when i was trying to get my 501 working nothing but the original flash was working never mind trying differant ird or b/k numbers but then as they say here try it and find out its called testing worse that can happen is you reflash the old files back

Yes, if you change receiver number and/or boxkeys the hard drive will have to be zeroed and remarried.

Thanks Skinerd and ynot. So if I dont change them with virgin flash (keep original # & key) I should not have to have to remarry? I dont have virgin flash for this box. Thinking it would be smart to find working virgin flash before getting to involved. Your knowledge is greatly appreciated Skinerd.

You can use just about any virgin flash to get the drive remarried, then flash back to what you had, as long as the numbers don't change it will still work.
