and i'm also haveing the same problem with my DVD player..... :( strange i thought those surge protectors are supposed TO work... but i bought a new soldering kit and would love to experiment to fix these things...

Storms can really fry stuff, But you could pull the cover and check the fuse, It may have just blown and saved the receiver.

They look like the old type glass little fuses used in older cars. Backright side of receivers mainboard, Marked F5001, A glass fuse with metal ends on each end. Make sure to have the unit unplugged from AC power before taking it apart and touching the fuse, You can get zapped at full 120 volts from it.

Best to have a multimeter to test it, But sometimes from lightning it will look burnt , Melted inside the glass or a silver color. It should be clear glass with a small metal center inside the glass going from one end to the other.

It's a small amp rated fuse, the wire inside is almost invisible so check with a meter, or just change it.

It is a slow blow 2.5 amp 250 volt, Do not try car tpye fuses or ones rated different than this, You must know somebody with a meter that could check it out. If nothing else, The local Radio shack should have new ones.

Easy if it is just the fuse bad. You will find out after putting a new one in. Hopefully that is all it is, If it is more then it will need circuit repair.

Let me know when you get it or pm me with what happenes, OK :) The unit has a MOV across the AC line for spike/surge protection that may be shorted as well blowing the fuse.

Changing a fuse an easy repair?...... It don't get no easier.
If that don't get it, things get a lot more complicated.
