View Full Version : Parity Key change
Dish is in the process of changing the encryption keys again! Right now, new encryption keys are spooling in the stream but channels are using the old keys still. I guess it will be a gradual changeover this time! Kind of defeats the purpose of Charlie's ECM department! Not exactly sure why they are playing this game...but it may something to do with those behind the REV/Atmega. Last time, the original coder behind the REV never updated his code and the REV went the way of the Dodo...maybe they are expecting the same for the Atmega this time??? Only time will tell!

Is this public key 0 and 1, Mili? Are is it another "hidden" key like last time? If it is public keys then our plastic will still autoroll when the time is right. Just wondering if I should be adding that new patch to my cards yet, or if it will adjust for me.

This is a parity key change, Crazy1_79, not public decryption keys...these keys will not autoroll on anything except subbed cards without blockers...Better keep that patch handy and be ready to apply it when you're screen goes black...
Beg to differ, my ROM3 blocker autorolls them. Anything else you will have to manually fix.
There is a lot of Math involved to change the 512 bit key. Sure, they could string together some computer code to generate new numbers however, in the mathematical theory of ecryption, there is something known as weak and strong keys. Weak keys don't work very well and are easily hackable---their entire encryption scheme would be compromised and we could subscribe our own ROM cards! They need to generate strong keys, but only a human mathematician can say with certainty that the new keys will be reliable so they do not do it too often.

If you are on sat 61.5 you will get nothing now. If you are on 110,119 current files are working as of this posting but are expected to go down within 24-48 hours. At that time atmega users will have to wait for a nnw23 rewrite........

thanks Mili so your blocker will autoroll rom 3 and 10 then? I am using it so I do not have to worry. I do have a couple of marked rom 3's that have public blocker so I will make the patch and be ready to go.

O.K. It looks like another decrypt/PK0 change. Your parity Key 0 (Zero) should change to B487666D05EAD1ED74E55BD6252038.
Sample patch for Rom 10: !Modify 07 02 04 0F B487666D05EAD1ED74E55BD6252038
Trying this now. Will post results shortly.

O.K. That seems to have fixed it. Up and running for over 10 minutes with no freezes or black outs. The problem is Parity Key 0 found in the second section of decrypt keys in the Nagra Edit "Data Editor" Screen. These are the Decrypt Keys found at D11F-D199.
!Modify 07 02 04 0F B487666D05EAD1ED74E55BD6252038 works for Rom 10, but I don't have a Rom 3 handy to check the location to see if they are the same.

It sure the hell does! I was trying to figure out why my rom3's were still fine. Only having issues with MC and rom10. Of course the rom2's automatically took the update.

Yes, I added the patch to both rom 3 and 10 and they are up and running without a hitch. I hope there isn't another agenda from dishnet on this matter. A possible card looping session perhaps?

hi, im using rom 10 card, 3900 reciever, i am having problem's with freezing up after about 20 seconds on ppv channels, some other channels are black, i have modified decrypt keys, and am still having the same problem, can anyone help please.
My Rom 10 has been unaffected throughout this whole ordeal. Like I have stated a thread before, the last time that I programmed my card, I didn't even add the PPVs, Porn, or events, but yet I have them all. I'll keep my fingures crossed that it keeps going.
Try tuning to a ppv for a half hour and see if you have a problem. My MC only goes black when I try to watch ppv.

The new decrypt keys should fix the freezing for all channels.
Everything is ok here.

a parity key change isn't the worst thing that can happen unless you're running fta...the easiest folks out of that ecm is the good old avr boys (and girls)....looks like they are protecting another ppv boxing gong show....they actually could change the keys again at a time of their choosing while allya all are posting a feint....or is charlie that much fun...lol

:flipa: Here is what I done to my rom3 to get it up:
Removed card password lock
Read card
clicked DATA EDITOR
clicked the 2nd Decrypt Key #7 in Nagra4.1
Wrote the new Parity key in Parity Key0
Wrote the change to the card
Put the rom3 GCSB back to card

what is GCSB do we load the card with the image that milli sent us then read the card then edit it or just clean card then edit then apply the milli file and blocker

GCSB = Generate Check Sum Blocker. Don't program a ROM card without it.

GCSB - is some good shit. Hey does anyone know what we can do to a blocker to let it update the parity key without us having to fuck with it. Is that a good IDEA or will that set us for some nice ecms?

rom2 updated the keys because you don't need a blocker. Does anyone know if the blockered marked rom2's updated parity keys by themselves? Mili's rom3 PB updated by itself too. Chucksum blocker is nice, but no where near as nice as Mili's PB. Plus, checksum is very public. They could target it just like they did on June 10th.

My Rom10 with GCSB never went down. I assumed the parity keys autorolled with the blocker.
Can't say the same for my Rev and Atmega and Pansat 2500a, all down.

Just wondering.. any idea about an ETA on the Magic Card software?
I haven't seen any updates since yesterday. My ATmega and rom10 are working... but I am being pestered by flies.. uh, friends and family with Magic Cards who're down.

I don't understand this.
The parity keys some of you are saying to use in your posts contain more digits than can be input in the parity key O section of Nagra Edit. AM i missing something?
Also which parity key section do i modify, i see three of them in the data editor, am i to modify D11F-D199?
I am using a Rom 10
