Here is a guide for an auto reset lock for the 7100/7200 dishplayers? I haven't tried this yet but want to . It does saywhat kinda lock this is , Anyone know ? Can we use an Ar105-C lock this way ? Anybody done this or seen this before? This seems like mucm more protection than the mic lock andit looks relativley easy , except for maybe lifting the pins on the flash chip , anyways I e-mailed oddcircuits the otherday about info on when they will have the 7100/7200 lock Diagram read and he said
" I'm running a little behind on the research for the 7X00 and the 721. I do have a subcontractor that may be starting to work for us this wek to install locks and do ECM repairs on the 7X00 boxes. We don't have a wiring diagram in hard copy yet, as the current method of installing a lock requires removal of the flash chip from the receiver and requires a trace cut under the flash chip. We're working on a method that's a bit more user friendly before we release the schematic."
I understand that they want to make a more user friendly design than the
one that requires removing the flash chip , but isn't this ( the autoreset guide) in effect all they need to use , maybe just draw up some more detailed instructions on the connection points ( Just so u know exactly which wire goes where. Anyways good news either way :) Also Does anyone know what type of lock that is , there are only a couple of autoreset locks right ( the Autoreset lock v.2 , the Ar105-C and the Digi lock v.5 ( or some call it the Digital lock v.5)

Good stuff. I have one of these on the way - got it cheap off fleaBay, not sure if that's bad or good - and I've been reading everything I can ever since then. Only experience I have is jtagging a B-Bird...this looks a lot more complicated to handle but the 7100 has so many bells and whistles I couldn't resist grabbing one.
Havn't been to oddcircuits to see if they have released their how-to yet, but if this is genuine, it has been coming for a while now. Just make sure it's the official oddcircuits how to before you go cutting any traces or anything. The need for the chip removal etc. sounds just like the discussion I had with oddcircuits myself, so this sounds pretty legit. Removing that chip will be a bitch too. Surely there must be an easier way. When this how-to is finalized it will be a revelation for the 7x00's.

Jt this Did not COME From Oddcircuits it has nothing to do with them as far as a Know , I was asking if we could use a Oddcircuit Ar105-C lock instead of the one thats in the Pic , I found it on another forum , I'll send it to Oddcircuits and see what they have to say about it

I have bought 3 in the Last Month 1st for $76 2nd one for $56 & 3rd one for $53 They all Came with Remotes and keyboards , but the one for $76 is the only one that came with access cards ( I don't need them so I don't see the need to buy ones with it anymore . Anyways I love them, I am actually glad they got Hit at the end of july Cause it brought the prices down to what they should be .
Oddcircuits is working on an official how to for the 7x00's and the ar105c auto reset lock. Last I heard they were trying to find a way to get it done without removing a tsop (if I remember correctly it's the tsop next to tp109) chip to do a trace cut underneath, then they were gonna go public with the how-to. I havn't looked at your file yet, I was just going by your description. I'll have to check it out. And yes, the 7x00's are still great receivers and now the price is right on these units. It will be nice to finally be able to put a real lock on them. I'm gonna wait for the official how to from oddcircuits though.

Well Looks Like its to good to be true , I knew there Had to be something about it cause if Oddcircuits was taking the chip off there definatley has to be more to it than this , And it might work but I want take no "Mights" on this receiver , any of the other ones and i probably would have jumped at doing it . Anyways the following is An e-mail reply from MArk at oddcircuits about this Lock in the above post
" Hello,
I've seen this guide around. Unfortunately, it won't work very well. It may have some limited success in autoresetting the receiver, but the CE# line connection isn't necessary and the WE# CPU connection should be connected to both WE#IN and CE# on the lock instead. This lock in the picture is being fed 5V VCC instead of the required 3.3V, and the WE# trace cut is wrong and won't work properly. The proper WE# trace cut is under the flash chip, but most people can't sucessfully remove and reinstall the flash chip from thier receiver.
I'm testing a new method that I plane to release as experimental before the weekend's over if the testing continues to go well.
Thanks,
Mark "
