If your 4500 is on Dishnet, you're out of luck. Charlie doesn't stream the updates for those grey boxes anymore. If you don't want to use it as a doorstop or a boat anchor, you CAN switch it over to BEV (they still stream the update - but you'll have to force the update by jumping 2 pins inside the IRD). I don't have those instructions handy at the moment (have it at home). Lemme know if you need it and I'll post it.
If the CAM is the original that came with that IRD, it's probably a ROM2 or ROM3. So if you're not interested in BEV, the CAM can be easily unlocked and programmed to a different IRD.

As for the remote for 4500...they are UHF only. All other IR (infra red) remotes will not work with that IRD...
