Hoping someone can help me out with this one.

Using scripted ROm 10, fine for two months until earlier tonight when picture went out, could still view guide displaying programming and when i chose a channel, channel number and program were displayed in upper right/left hand corner of screen, but no picture or audio, just black screen.

When receiver is turned off, message pops onto screen stating the follwoing: "Vital programming information is being downloaded to your reciever, please do not turn off or disturb receiver". Little Green bar slowly fills up and then i'm back at guide with same result as before. Turn off receiver and message with little green bar comes back onto screen this happens no matter how many times i turn off the receiver.

Is my Digital Lock preventing some sort of update or something along those lines?

I have never disengaged my digital lock, because i was led to believe that if i ever did that, my TSOP/Eeprom would get hit and receiver would then be useless.

How do i know when it is safe to disengage the digital lock, and is that in any way related to the problem i am experiencing right now?

Thansk for the help.

Your receiver is trying to take update.Rule of thumb for me is to check forums first about any ECM or if you card isn't working then you need the update. Most of the time it is guide info so it won't do anything to hurt the receiver. But check forums first. If there's no big ecm then take the update
