View Full Version : DVB PCICards with Pansat capabilities
I did not see a forum supporting pci FTA cards hopefully this is an not to off topic. I would like to use a computer as a dvr and a pci card to tune 110 and 119. I would like to find a card, which has the capability to use the fixes that are available. Any suggestions on the best cards would be greatly appreciated. If there is a method or software allowing the use pansat 2500 controlled via computer that would also work just fine also.

Pretty much any PCI DVB card will do what you want. Which one to buy is another question altogether. If you have a slower computer, you might want the Nexus-s, it has a processor on-board so it doesn't use your processor, works well with slower computer, but is rather pricey. The TwinHan is a less expensive card, no processor on board, so you need pretty fast computer (most people recommend minimum of 1ghz). I use the TwinHan and I recommend it.
The big difference in the Pansat or any other FTA STB, and the DVB card is the length of time it is down waiting for a fix . The first time it went down with the parity key change, I was down for about 3 hours. This time I was back up in 10 minutes..

Where do you get your files?
Thanks,Lucas
I am running a Twinhan 1020a with a pIII 1ghz machine, 256MB Ram, 64MB Geforce4 vid card, and it runs perfectly
I tried it with a 550 Xeon with 512 ram and same vid and it didn't run that well...so if you have a machine 1GHZ or better I would say save the dough and buy Twinhan
I am only currently using it with BEV and am yet to go down in 6 weeks
I highly recommend this type of setup as it is far more reliable than alot of FTA recievers out there...the dvr is also a plus
