View Full Version : Remote Address 254 ?
First Time I Have Seen This......got Receiver...plugged It In....used All Remote Functions....tuned In Dish Etc................after Cloning A 3900 With My 3900 Tsop Bin So As To Have The Same Box Keys As Mine..(i Have Done This With Several 3700-3800-3900's) The Remote Will Not Operate Receiver.....both Of These Receivers Have The Same Build Config. .......you Can Use The Channel Up And Down Buttons On The Ird To Change Channels And The Receiver Works Fine..........cannot Access Any Functions With Remote......when I Pull The Card The Info Screen Comes Up And Has All Appropriate Data Except The Remote Address Says "remote Address 254".........here Are Some Of The Things I Have Done To Try And Fix This.......rewrote The Original Tsop Bin...still Address At 254.............erased The Sa30 Sector On Both Bins And Did Stream Updates...still Address At 254............any Of You Gurus Out There Have Any Idea?...........thanks Ahab

You Need To Reflash The EEprom With A Virgin Image Created With Your Tsop Image.

also try reprogramming the remote address with the remote, perhaps it will reprogram to whatever address you need. If you do a search on this forum for "remote address" you should find the instructions on how to if you do not already know.

do you have a saved eeprom image? if you do, look for a program called flashedit in flashedit it will allow you open a eeprom and then virginize it, therefore giving you the virgin eeprom you need.

Try this out
remote address change
unplug all the other close by receivers 1st:
[1] press sytem info
[2] press and hold the SAT button until all buttons light up
[3] use the # pad to select a new remote address # [1-15] the light will blink after each entered digit
[4] press the # and the SAT will flash 3 times
[5] press the record button
Now that remote and IRD are the same remote address.

yes birdie, I forgot the exact sequence, I mentioned to do a search for that. I always have to search for it when I need it, I guess if I needed a bit more I would remember how it goes!

I guess I should get into doing that! My problem is I never remember where I stick the damn things and have to do a search on my computer to find them! lol Anyway birdie back on track here, I posted a question after you and skinerds post on the .013 and when you need to vidmod, I am thinking about getting a 301.013 but am trying to figure out what I will need to do, I thought I had it figured out but after reading that post, I see I have more I need to learn before tackling it, and yes I have read the vid mod how to in bellexpress.

sure appreceate all the help............would there is kind of a catch 22 using this way.........the only way to get to the info screen is to remove the card.....so pressing the system info button is out...........if just getting to the screen "system info" is what i need.....then removing the card is my only way.........so let's say getting to the info screen via removing the card is where i want to be then using the instructions for resetting address i would type in the "254" push the appropriate buttons and the remote would then be set for the 254 address....???.................thanks some more ahab

You can't get to system info with the card in and by going to the menu screen? I believe it is menu 6-1-3 from the remote to get into system info screen.

Just try each code on the remote, 1 to 15 and check it each time, One of them should work

that's the problem...........the remote will not work the receiver.......i will assume it is because of the "remote address 254" that appears on the info screen that i can only access by pulling the card.............remote works all other receivers fine......they have an address of 1.................where the problem receiver has an address of "254".............i hope i am explaining this correctly...............again many thanks ahab

oh shit, duh, sorry about that, one other way to get the remote to match the receiver is to point the remote at the receiver (in sat mode) and just press the record button, if this doesn't work, back to virginizing the eeprom.

Just do that one the remote anyway, It will still change the stored setting on the remote. One of the codes will work then when it matches the receiver. try 254 first for grins.

i am going to head to the house and try and retry some of your fine suggestions in this thread............i am leaning toward the virgin eeprom theory but will try all if necessary.............i will check back for more suggestions and will post any and all progress................ahab
