I'm a newbie having trouble getting off the ground with my new 2500a even after reading alot. I have two problems:
1. In the CAS System menu under Nagravision, I tried to select Dish Network by clicking ok but it does not select. The ok icon on the lower right corner of the screen flashes but receiver does not retain Dish Network under Nagravision.

2. I have a legacy twin LNB installed with a diseqc switch. I just had full signal on my dish last week but now my 2500a shows that I have 28% Level and 0% Quality. Even after I unplug the cable from the satelletie, it continues to read the same values. My old 2700 doesn't work anymore so I can see the signal with that receiver.

Hello powerbroker98, first you have a dish pointing problem, second have you been able to down load and channels yet? If so you have to turn on the keys. Third, do you have your deseqc switch and cables in sink with the way you have them setup in the menu? Fourth, you may want to do TP scans when you get your dish pointed.

Thanks Shelby for the advise!
I'm going to checkout my potential dish pointing problem with my friends receiver tomorrow. I don't think I've got that problem because I've had no storms and I had full signal last weekend with a dish network receiver.

I also had matched up my diseqc switch port to the setting on the receiver. Channels haven't downloaded from the scan yet.

How do I turn on the keys ??? Do I need to put in Dish Network under CAS System / Nagravision menu??

First of all pb98, the twin legacy lnb is not the greatest lnb to use with the fta irds. The lnbs have a built in switch that the receiver has a hard time recognizing. I am assuming you have a two cables coming out of the lnbs, both carry a signal from both lnbs which should lead to two seperate irds. A diseqc switch will not work on the twin legacy lnb. Take it off and run one cable to your receiver. On your antenna settings for each sat, lnb type is standard and lnb setting is set to 11250. Turn off all other settings except lnb power. This will at least bring a signal into the ird although when changing channels you will find that the switch has a tendency to hang. This will vary from unit to unit. You can work around this by going up and down the channel list until a strong tp kicks the switch on the same polarity of the channel you want to watch. In your situation I would recomend changing out the legacy twin to dishpro lnbs and use a specialized channel list for dishpro or go to seperate dual type lnb with one out put from each lnb that you can run into a disqec switch. To turn on the keys, just go into parental controls and turn on the default key when in the code menu. The keys are now loaded with the flash but you need to turn them on clicking on the default key. :) hound

Thanks for everyones help as I'm up and running now. Make a bonehead mistake by plugging in my coax from the diseqc into the Sat-in instead of the IF input. I only focused on complicated fixes instead of looking at the basics.

JCGHOUND: I bought the legacy lnb because my buddy told me the legacy did not have the built in switches and the pro lnb does. Can anyone else confirm which is correct? I am having the problem you described regarding channels hanging waiting for a strong transponder so you may be correct. Thanks for your thoughts.

Does anyone have a channel guide with icons?

the legacy twin will not work for fta.. The dish pro will, but you have to load a dishpro channel list because it doesent reconise either the vert or horiz position. yes both have built in switches but use only the twin that has a dp logo on the front.. I have better luck using 2 seprate legacy lnbs or dave lnb's with a 4x1 disque switch.
Hope this helps.
