I bought an Echostar reciever without a card and I just read somewhere that the 4000 series cannot be programmed with a Jtag. Is this true? And if so am I out of luck to find out what the box keys are?
Thank you

you will need the original not stream locked cam or a f040 device, your better off getting a ird that you can use a jtag on

if the card that is coming with the receiver was once subbed to that receiver and is not at current rev (although current revs are now being unlocked with modded hu loaders) you can easily get into that card and get the boxkeys,

you will have to wait for the pansat gurus to update your flash or eeprom, whatever it is you have to program on those! They changed parity keys again, this has been speculated to be a attack on the FTA receivers so untill someone rewrites the flash with the new key change, you guys are out of luck.

YOu bought it without a card, sorry I misunderstood you, I'm afraid you are out of luck, I have seen a file that states you can get boxkeys with a voltmeter it is in the download section, I believe it is very difficult to do and I am not even sure it works. Better of to just use that 4000 for a boat anchor and buy a jtaggable receiver, goto www.bellexpress.vu and you will find a list of jtaggable receivers, I would recomment a 2700,3900, or a 4900 for starting out.

Save the card and cover screws, Then good for target practice. 12 Gauge is fun.
