Hey guys is it possible to get transponders that are not in spot beams on sat 119 with a 24" dish in Canada?
Specifically in Edmonton, AB?
I know there is no way to get signal for the spot beam channels what about the others?
I want to get channels like Cartoon Network, Spike, Comedy Central that are on 119. Do I still need a huge dish 1.2m or more to get signal from non spot beam transponders?
Aiming at 110 I'm able to get all non spot beam transponders with a 24" Dish. So I was wondering if it would be the same for sat 119.

Apparently the 119 sat is an issue in western Canada because of spotbeaming. I know of at least 1 person in the Edmonton area that had to go with a 30" dish to get even a few transponders. The bigger the dish, the better the chance you have.

Yeah I'm aiming at sat 110 and I notice I got nothing from transponders that are on spot beams. However I do get signal for the others which are not on spot beams. So I'm wondering if say a 30" Dish will allow me to get signal on 119 from transponders that are not on spot beams.
Channels like Spike, Comedy central and Cartoon Network are not on spot beams as fas as I know.

The one Bell gives with their 3100 receivers is a 20"
I think In Edmonton a 32" is required to get signal from 119. I managed to find 119 but it was way too low to watch anything.

I'm in Northern Sask. and I have to use a 10' C-Band dish to get 119 with signal of 67. As for 110 I'm using a 30" with signal of 100. I can find 119 with a sat finder using a 30" but get 0 signal. Odd isn't it. This setup works great for me.

If you use a fortec dish Lets say something like 39 inchs with a UNIVERSAL KU BAND LNB it shoulden't be a problem

Anywhere west of Manatoba you need to go big with your dish, a 30" is the min.

I'm getting a 1m dish hopefully that will be good for both 110/119
I just want the transponders which are not in spot beams. Hopefully the 1m dish will be enough.

I'm about 300 km south of Edmonton and am using a BEV 20" dish with the Dish 500 dual LNB. I'm getting stuff from 119 just fine.

Yeah Calagary and farther south seems fine for 119. I guess 300KM makes a difference. I did not get more than 3 transponders that got me signal with a 30" Dish from Edmonton on a beautiful sunny day.
I need to built a custom base or a pole for a 1m Starchoice Dish I just got. Also I need to mod the arm so it holds a Dishnet LNB.
Then I'll give it a try.

I am in Surrey, BC and I was using a 18" dish 300 and was able to get 110 & 119 with good signgal strength.. J ust recently upgraded to 24" dish but did not get much of a increase. Check your line of sight to make sure nothing is iln the line of the signal.

18" Dish and getting 119?
WOW!
I barely got like 5 transponders with weak signals on a 32" Dish from 119.
