Welcome to the world of fta. You will not go wrong by going with the Pansat 2500A. This is probably getting to be one of the most popular irds used by testers in fta testing. FTA has several options you can look at. The first is the dealer supported irds such as the Silver Bullet, Silver Bullet Enforcer and the Blackbird. I would recommend staying away from the BB since it is a clone unit and the Developer of the s/w has taken offense to the use of BB using his s/w. These units at best receive little support through various fta sites that tend to focus on the freeware fta irds being usually the Fortecs and Pansats. Fortec makes the Lifetime and the Lifetime Ultra. The later is a model produced by Fortec that followed the lifetime and is called Ultra in fta circles. Both are good units and popular with testers and receive a lot of support in fta forums. The other major player is the Pansat. The most popular is the 1500A, 2300A and the 2500A. The 1500A is the baby version of the 2500A and comes with less bells and whistles than the 2500A but can use the same s/w fixes to get Dish and Be\/. The 1500 is not as popular but there are a lot of them out. The 2300A has been popular but seems to be losing ground to the 2500A as being the most sought out ird produced by pansat with testers just getting into testing. These are just a few of the fta irds and most popular and the ones you can find freeware software and support in the various sites that support fta testing. There are also other models out there.
