i bought a 501 pvr, when i insert dish card a23 it says network programming has been suspended, atmega card will not work as all i get is 0's and will not let me update at all

can you give better details so you can get motre help.
do you have boxkeys, did you program this dish card a23 with tiers, parity key fis patch and a blocker that locks and spoofed it to A23? (it is a dish rom 10 rev A23, ok)
how or what are you using to program your atmega?
does the 501 have current software? like p221, p222 or p223, check system info menu screen/

with atmega i have found if it has pins it will not install in slot pin prevent it from entering fully giving 00000000 for smart card id

have boxkeys,card came with receiver dish rev 10 a23 blue card,have not program card using ronstiers for conf. software p223 dckd-n. will not accept any new conf with atmega , but will acept dish card with only 2 channels. did reflash tsop with softlock , new eeprom .attempt to up date any information on any screen it says unable to access this feature.will not update harddrive information

would send the rom 10 to get unlocked and use that.
put the rom 10 in and let it sit see if it will update info to HD or channel guide. doesn't matter till you get the atmega to work if it will. make sure it does get in far enough to contact correctly as ynot points out. or if in far enough may need to add a apaer spacer or wiggle for correct chip contact. also may try mikenet atmega help files if still having atmega troubles
