Running camless is using an IRD without an actual rom card. I use a MC in camless mode, the MC is emulating a rom.

thanks, that is what i thought.
do you like the m/c better than the plastic? it must be easier to use.
is there ecm threats like the plastic? from wat i read, the m/c card emulate rom's 3,10,11, but does it avoid the b.s. from charlie that plastic deals with?

I love my MC, I've never used plastic but MC seems to not be affected buy the usual looping and such.

You will also see "camless" being used with greater frequency in the next few years as satellite service providers move to boxes that do not use cards.
Just like your digital cable providers today.
