510 to 5900

This may seem a strange request for this site but is it possible to convert a used Dish 510 PVR to a Bell 5900 PVR and then buy a virgin bell card off of Ebay and subscribe to Bell? How would one go about converting the 510 to a 5900. Can you just point it at Bell and have it restream or would you have to do a vid mod/jtag/junkyard fix to be able to erase the appropriate SA addresses so it can be restreamed to bell? Would the fact that it was a dish receiver become apparent to bell when I try to subscribe with the virgin bell card and restreamed to Bell receiver? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

for a 510 you would need a vidmod and resize/remarry the HD with older dish software like p063 or P080. then it thinks it is a 508 and can use the lue rom cards. THEN you could do a sector SA60 erase in FLASH 2 and restream to bev.
Don't know how bev handles subs but the sub thing would not work with dish unless the card is the one married to the receiver. with dish if you want to sub a receiver and you don't have the married card they will send you a new yellow card to use in it. And since they would require the ird number they should know it is a dish receiver and not one of theirs. someone with more bev experience might have a better answer for you.......

you will need to jtag it for sure but you will not have to change the hard drive size for BEV 120 gig will work with BEV as will a blue card..........its only if you want to use it with dish that you need to resize the hard drive to 80 gig and vid mod to change the 7fffffffffac sector from d500 to 0000
Now weather Bell can change the software via sat i dont think so what is the firmware at now?
but as the unit doesnt have a jtag pad soldering would be needed and as trubo stated bell would know its a dish ird and if they could change the software they would send you a purple card

i believe bev will not let u sub a former charlie ird. they will only activate the irds that they have prior knowledge of. learn how to mod and jtag that ird and just test it. it's comendable that you wish to actually subscribe to bev.

I doubt Bell will let you subscribe a DishNet IRD but you can still test with it. By erasing Sa61 in Flash 2 it will convert to a 5900 and no Vid Mod or hard disk downgrade is necessary when testing bell.
