After I backup the flash from the receiver, I open a program called flashedit and open the flash I just backed up, if the software, bootstrap, and boxkeys all come up properly, I can probally figure that the flash was not corrupted during saving. if I get yyyy or ffff for any of the values I above mentioned, I erase that backed up image and do it again, After I flash the receiver, I detect it with my jtag and can determine if it programmed correctly by seeing all of the above info being correctly displayed in jkeys, Flash edit can be used to change ird number or box keys so it is a good program to have anyway. It can also install softlocks on 3900, and 4900 receivers.
