I have just dug out my cube & Demu III card. Could anyone tell me is there anything running with this combo?

Cube works great with a dos based program. try chinaman or the cemu wizard.not sure of your board, it's worth a try. the platinum board that was used for dave works good.

I have a couple of EMU Gold Cube systems that were used for Dave years ago. I believe that they are 100 MHz. As they are computers, I assume that I can use them for Charlie but I have read about having to change a crystal for card and ird compatibility.
What say you? How do I proceed with this?
Thanks, Sledd.

No crystal change as Charlie emulation is camless [no card to program].

Okay so my Gold EMU will work for Charlie. So what is the easiest, most reliable software I should try using with this EMU and my 3900?
Your expertise is appreciated.

Hi sledd
I'd try Cemu 1st....very easy to configure to your boxkeys and IRD#. Choose a good CAM ID [card#] and probably go with a ROM10..bin

Thanks Cancom, I'll give this a try and report back with my results. I've got to look around for these files first.
Thanks again, Sledd.

Okay I've downloaded a number of versions of CEMU. Not sure if I've used the latest version but I have made a floppy with it but I am not sure how to proceed with it. How/where do I configure my BKs and CAM?
I cannot find a 'How To' for CEMU...
Thanks, Sledd.

Well I've made the disk but I'm getting error 019 'Card Not Inserted Properly" when I inserted it into the ird. -Not sure why though?
I've also read somrthing about using a 'Chinaman' emu file. Is this the same as CEMU? I'm trying CEMU.
Thanks, Sledd.

Quoted from another thread- 'The HU EMU GOLD has a 1489P and an AT90S2313. I've tried the 380 etc hex files. If there is a flash that'll work, I haven't found it....the manufacturer hung everyone out to dry....I have a drawer full of these useless boards. Any offers....ha...ha'

Hey Cancom, I am using this same emu board (components etc.) that you have mentioned here. Have you figured out how to get yours to work or do I need to modify this board to work? If a modification is needed can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks again, Sledd.

HU EMU GOLD are still junk as nobody has released a fix for the hardware.

Well apparently the cube works well for charlie. -It's a computer afterall right? So what do I need to do to my old HU EMU Gold III card to make it work? Is there a component swap that I can do?
I seem to be getting mixed messages regarding if this cube will work or not for charlie...
Any clarification would be great.

It is the 1489/2313 based board that is the problem. get a max232 atmel 2313 emu board .It would appear difficult to swap the max232 for the 1489, the pinout is different, I'm sure that someone could do it with the propper equipment, but it would be easier to buy one or get a bare board and get the ic's form digikey or other parts distributor.

Your HU gold boards need to be flashed in order to function with echo* based systems. In order to flash them, you will need to reset the fuse bits on the processor (not easy), once you have that done, you need to find a good flash, and reflash the Atmel. They work fine once reflashed.

Thanks for the info. guys! So I can use the cube but I need a new board. Maybe I'll etch one and buy the components. I've seen enough schematics and pcb layouts.
Thanks again, Sledd.
