You don't want to do that. Is the IRD working at all, does it power up, can you do a switch test?. If it does power up, what information on the screen do you get. More information needed.

try checking for voltage from the sat connection on the ird no voltage will tell you it might be an internal problem

The DC voltage from the sat input cable connector that goes to the LNB's should be between 12 and 17 volts. Are you sure you have the dish pointed right, do you have another IRD to check your setup with?

i cant get a read at all. but im not great with a voltage tester. i put the red on the metal piece that goes in the satallite in spigot and the black to ground . is that correct.

i just did a vid mod on my 301-13 ird, i get sat 119 and i switched wires at the switch, and was getting sat 110 all my other receivers work fine but the receiver doesnt recognize the switch, is there a secret to make the modded ird recognize the switch? im using a dish 500 and i have adapters on my other receivers do i need adapters on this receiver now that it has been modded?

That is correct, you should get 12 to 17 volts DC there. If the other receivers work using the same cable, at the same place as the one that don't work, and you don't get any voltage, I would suspect the receiver.
