I just checked MS downloads, and msinet.ocx is there. It's a VB file. If you download vbrun50 or vbrun60.exe, that will fix it.

thanks lucklarry that worked for scammer but not jkeys2.99. jkeys 2.0 works fine. i tried downloading different jkeys 2.99 files but same problem as above, i get that error.
3.9 i didnt know you could fry the board until i did it. the computer store could have lied to me. i dont know a lot about the inside of a computer. all i know is it wouldnt read any irds and i have a j31,quad and a buffered jtag and none worked but now they do.
any ideas on jkeys2.99?
anybody?

thanks ozone. jkeys works now.
i paid $140.00, $75 for them to save all my stuff and then transfer it back
$35.00 for god knows what and $18.00 for good old canadian tax. My computer is only 6 months old so he warranteed the motherboard. i told him the truth about how i F###ed it up. I just figured it would be a fried port. he said i shouldnt warantee it but i will. Thats why i think hes full of s##t about the motherboard. he just wanted the extra $75.00 i think.Oh well what can you do. lol
I have never heard of a motherboard being fried that way. The port is made to send and recieve data if it is set up bi-directional. Although anything is possiable

Yeah you got taken to the bank.
I have been fixing and installing computers for 20 years and this happens all the time.....but not on my watch :)
I have seen so many people pay and pay and pay for computer repairs it is not funny....but some people can't even set their vcr clock so there are people who will take advantage. I tell anybody who will listen "buy a battery backup or UPS" it the best investment one can ever make. I have 5 for my TV and computers. Anybody here is free to PM me anytime for FREE advise should they ever need it.
Oh by the way I do have a regular job besides.........I work for a school District with over 75 schools and they all have computers and I help fix them and troubleshoot problems. Am I qualified??????

Were you using a Buffered JTAG. That should stop serges from entering the computer.
But if you were using one then maybe it will not.

even if it was not Buffered it would only fry The p-port, there are diodes to prevent the whole motherboard from being toasted....

yes it was a buffered jtag. But the thing is, I was a little lazy. Instead of cutting a port in the bottom of the 3100-10 i just flipped the board over and jtagged it and sparks flew. I got what i deserved for being a lazy ass. lol
