I just modded my detonator II and everything seemed to go alright, but when I use the script to glitch into it all I get it 6f6f6f6f6f6f...etc.... no bug hits or anything, and it is ALWAYS 6f, not 666ffffff6f6ffff or anything like that. And no matter what I do I can not get it to change. I took the resistor off just to see what happens, and I still only get 6f6f6f6f6f,,,,, I tried another resistor, different newd flashes all with the same results. Attached is a picture of the modded detonator, its a big image. I have pins 4,5,6,9,13 lifted on U4 I tried lifting the pin on U2 but no change. The resistor is on the backside of the board. If anyone wants to see it, I will upload it too. I do get an ATR and stuff like that at the beginning of the script. If anyone can help me that would be great. Dish just sent me a new yellow card and I would really like to put my old rom10 to some use.

If your getting 6f6f6f6f6f6 you are close. You did say that you used a Resistor !!!!!!!!!!!
You shouls be using a 5k pot, preferably a 5 or 10 turn style. and vary the output.

I agree...best results with the trim pot. If you don't use one, you MUST alter your vcc start/limit settings. The fact that you get 6F6f6f6f6f6 means your very close. When I got that on my Mik, I had to decrease the resistance on the pot to get it to go 6Fff6f6f6fffff6f6fff6f. The cards opened after that, but not without altering the vcc settings.

but it wouldnt change regardless, even if i changed the vcc start, and vcc limit to the very highest and the very lowest....I got to looking closely at the lifted pins, and it seemed as if pin 4 on U4 was still brigded in the back, after I messed with that I got all f's, then when i started varying the vcc limit and start i got it to go to 6's and f's. Right now I am running the rom3 testglitcher to see if it will hit a bug on my open rom3. The reason i'm using a resistor is because radio shack only had 10k pot's and i just picked up 2.2k 1/2watt resistors and 2.2k 1/4watt resistors. which would be better 1/4 or 1/2? right now the 1/4 is on it. I left the testglitch script run while i left and i'll be going back home in a bit, so hopefully it ill have hit a bug and i'll know it is working correctly.

10K pot will work, bud. It makes the the fine adjustment more difficult, but you still get the 0 to 2.2K swing.Install a pot.

if i'm getting strings or 6's and f's it should eventually pop right? as long as i play with the vcc's. I mean I am getting what looks like good distobutions of 6's and f's now. I just wish there was a way to test to make sure i had all the connections correct.
the fact that i was getting 6f repeating the first time was a fluke, i know that. After i fixed the one pin that i think was still connected i started up the script and it spit back all f's, with some tuning of the vcc's i got it back to 6'f and f's

well I just checked my testglitch script and it ran for an hour and a half, and didnt hit any bugs. I messed around with it some more and ended up redoing my wiring, making them shorter and cleaner and such. Still was getting the same results, I can get a good flow of 6's and 7's, but never any bug hits. So just for fun I took the resistor off and I get the same results, I can manipulate the flow of 6's and F's the same as if I had the resistor on. I will edit my first post and include a picture of the back of the loader. I am going to order a pot as soon as I can find a place with them, but i was hoping to find out why I could get the flow of 6's and F's even with the resistor not being attached to the loader? Thanks

if you use a 10k pot be sure not to max it out. i did so on one to see if it would work better and it looped the card and stell haven't been able to get it running again. it was a rom 10

Norton, look at picture at the bottom of the board do you have a track cut on atmel pin 14?

i did this mod to my loader excpet that it has a black board with blue dip
switches i got it to unlock1 time on a rom 10 and that was it the settings were
vcc 76 delay was at 1236 all the others i had wouldn't pop so i had them sent
off and was told that they poped very quickly
so i don't know why this modd doesn't seem to work very well
and when i take the trimmer off i still get the 6f6ff6fff6fffff6 flows
and if i adjust it doesn't seem to do anything
are there any traces that need to be cut? because i didn't cut any
i did mod according to the pic in the above reply

the vcc and ground for the 5K trim pot is in wrong position if you takes ohm meter and check ground and vcc they are not in correct position.
Rear of card slot
1 . 2 . 3 . 4
Top of card slot
8 . 7 . 6 . 5
Front of card slot
1 = VCC (trim pot or res. should be in here)
2 = Reset
3 = Clock
4 = VCC sometimes
5 = ground sometimes
6 = I/O sometimes
7 = I/O sometimes
8 = ground (and here)
try to adjust the pot up and down you would see RESET when you lower the to .458 ohm

i don't quite understand your post about
rear top and front could you explain a little bettter
if i modded according to the pic, then
where i put the resistor i should move it to another spot?
like solder it to the far right if looking at back of the loader
i am confused

Try to compare your mod with this to see what you dis wrong.
the only thing different i did was put the pot on the underside of the board. I also used that picture to determine which legs to lift

No pin 14 on atmel does not have a trace cut as far as I can tell
And I just went back and rechecked all the things on the image you posted and they are all identical, except the pot is on the underside of the board, as indicated in my picture

what vcc low and high did you set ? try to use 79 for high Vcc and 70 for low vcc.

thats around where i was at and nothing was working....i messed with this myself for weeks with no good results, I would get the reposnes but no bug hits ever. I sent it off to a guy on the forums and he didnt have any luck either
do you have this loader? and you got it working?

yes I had this loader mine has serial 9 pin on it I did exact as picture only thing is different I moved my VCC connect with 5k trim pot to far pin of socket connector
on bottom card:
x x x x 0 ( 0 is where I solder the trim pot) not the 2 location as in your picture)

and looking at your picture why you do not have u11 chip 74hc4053 on right hand side?

Ok, thats what I thought. trying to give it a shot now. Dont have a locked card right now, but I should be able to still hit the bug on an open one right?
just getting resets now

when i adjusted it nothing seem to happen still

if you have ohm meter is much better you can measure the 5k trim pot set at 2.2 k ohm. You will have RESET if your pot adjust to .486 ohm or below. When you measure make sure no power attach to it for accurate.

its just that the pot doesnt have any affect on the responses anymore. I think this loader has had so many changes made to it, it turned to junk

Well I've been going over the board trying to figure out a better way to mod these Detonators. Near as I can tell the 74HC00 (3b) is being fed from the block via the 3rd-74HC0053 Pin-15 located at U11 on my board. So I decided to connect the 74HC00-2b to U11 pin-15 instead of connecting to Pin-2 of the 74hc04. So far this tiny remod seems to being working great. I can hit the 0C-Bug fairly easy now. It also brought my glitching voltage down to around the 40-49 VCC range. What I was wondering is it would make any difference lifting pin-10 of the Max232. I guess I'll try that later :~) But I just thought I would share my little remod.
Good Luck satvia
found this on another site and tried it with my loader and this is what i got
the card was locked using nomore blocker but when i tried to clean in
n.e. it said it was still locked but i did get the message bellow
my vcc setting are lower now in the 40's instead of the 70's

thats just how it was. I;ve noticed that as well. Seems some detonators dont have this? That picture is named t6 I think, and it is identical to my detonator 2. But i definitly do not have the u11 chip.

just unlocked my first rom 3 using this change to loader as above
it took about 30 to 45 min using powersn unlocker rom 3 version
i set vcc 4D and 48 never said it was unlocked the readings changed from
o6f to oo004oo0400oo0ooo40o400oo4 etc
so i stopped afraid it might have looped and in ne it was open
this might be the correct mod for these loaders
