Greetings.
I'm trying to flash my 2313 atmel with 382/383 hex for a one chip emu setup. Is there any way to convert the 382/383 hex to the .exe.program.hex/.exe.eeprom.hex format used in xpflash so that I can just use an unlooper to flash the atmel? Or can I just rename the 382/382 hex .exe.program.exe and create a dummy .exe.eeprom.hex?

I tried ufp16 with the unlooper but kept getting "no AVR found." Fiddling around with the delays didn't seem to help.

Thanks for your help in advance.

What device are you trying to flash the atmel with???

In the fbprg16 program files you'll find a schematic for a simple programmer. It is very easy to build and consists of 3 220 ohm resistors, a 20 pin IC socket and a DB25 connector. This is more reliable than unlooper methods.....I have several unloopers and they screw up during flash all the time as they are running Windows based programs.

An Hu loader.
It works with xpflash.

Just to let everyone know that you can just rename the .hex file to .exe.program.hex and use a dummy .exe.eeprom.hex with xpflasher, works for me.

Still don't understand why ufp16 doesn't like my loader. I tried different combos of loader dip switches, delays, and even "avrtype" in the config file, nothing worked.

btw, i set my loader's dip switch to 1 and 5 ON for xpflasher to flash.

Hi sunfish

fbprg16 works off your printer port.
Loaders run off the COM ports.

It isn't that UFP doesn't like your loader...it doesn't like XP.UFP flies with 98.

Yes, "confirm" means getting audio and video :repuke:

But I have seen people report ufp success with XP, real confusing.

One more thing I encountered that may be of use to others:

I have to reflash the eeprom on my 301-13 since the ird came password locked and I don't have a remote to do the reset. So I fired up Flashedit2, loaded the saved tsop and saved virgin eeprom. It asked for build config code from the motherboard sticker. However, there is a discrpenacy between the sticker's value and the value shown in JKeys. I used the value in Jkeys and it works. Did not bother to try the sticker's value.

when flashing chip for max mel board do you pull the at 2313 chip and put into your loader and another question can you run your maxmel board off of windows instead off dos

Yes you put it in a Unlooper or Atmel Programmer and flash it.
Max Emu will work with Windows.

Can you use avr to make a board for emulation? I found the detailed info in maestra guide version 5. It uses ird2pcv2.pfg. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi

Yes you can use an AVR to emulate. Unadviseable as I found out the hard way. I killed two receivers when the 8515's overvoltaged the IRD [12v instead of 5v].

Also any external emu has a high EMI .....you can get busted from 200+ feet away. Internal kits can be had for $20 delivered....worth the risk?

As mentioned on this thread by Cancom, UPF16 will not work on windows98, I also have tried this program on windows XP, all I get is connecting and does not move from there, I also tried clikcing on read and all I get is r eading but again does not get any further. I have also tried XPflasher, and not getting much further with that either, on windowsXP, I get Failed: could not find active ATmel, I tried on my mod Hu loader as well as on an ISO programmer that I have. On windows98, I get Xpatmel.exe file is linked to missing export ADVAPI32.dll check tokenmembership. This file is definetly in my window/system and as a matter of fact I downloaded another one and added to the same file as the flasher.
Cancom, can you please tell me where I can find the fbprg16 program files, as I did search under echostar files and dishnet rom files and could not find it.
Thanks

I built my own FBPRG16 file set on a bootable disk.
PM me with and email addy and I'll send it to you.

cancom,
Pardon my ignorance but what do you mean?.... you can get busted from 200+ feet away

also I plan on using an external emu on a 508, am I going to have problems (hurting the 508?)

thanks

a computer with the case off produces buttloads of EMI, I don't think Charlie is sending peeps out door to door with an aircraft scannner checking for high voltage AVR signatures. At least I hope they're not.

The emu setup gives off 121 Mhz signal [aircraft emergency broadcast frequency]. The external version emits a signal strong enough to be detected for up to 200 ft. The internal max&mel is sheilded by the IRD chassis and travels less than 10 ft.....your choice!!!

The 508 will emu just fine....I'd advise an AR105C lock on it as they are not easy to reflash.

I'm in the approach to our airport but over 6 miles out. I guess I'll try it out and then switch over to internal. Thanks...

I agree both my 508's have AR105C locks.

ouxly40 -
I found this in the Utilities Section - Not sure if it's what you need, because I flash my Atmels in DOS.
http://vip.dssftp.com/
I have also seen it on maestra in the Dishnet File Section
